How do you descale and clean your Siemens EQ6?

How often should you descale?
You have to descale and clean your Siemens EQ6 4 times a year. This way, you ensure that the coffee machine remains in good condition. It's important that you don't skip the cleaning, because limescale and coffee residue can damage your coffee machine. Overdue maintenance causes blockages and malfunctions.

Step 1: prepare the descaling
- Select the 'Calc'n Clean' program via the display.
- Press 'OK' to confirm.
- Press the 'Start/stop' button to start the cycle.
- Take out and empty the drip tray, and place it back.
- Put a cleaning tablet into the compartment for ground coffee on the right side of the machine.
- Press 'Start/stop' again to start the cycle.
- Take out and empty the water tank, and take the water filter out.
- Place the water tank back.
- Press the 'Start/stop' button.
Step 2: descale the machine
- Pour 0.5L lukewarm water into the water tank.
- Put a descaling tablet into the water tank and let it dissolve.
- Press the 'Start/stop' button to confirm.
- Place a 1L container under the coffee outlet.
- Place the intake tube in the container and press the 'Start/stop' button.
Step 3: complete the cleaning cycle
- Rinse the water tank once the descaling cycle is complete.
- Put the water filter back into the water tank.
- Fill the water tank with fresh water up to the 'max' level and put it back in place.
- Press the 'Start/stop' button one more time.
- The cleaning cycle has been completed.
- Empty the drip tray and place it back.
- You're now done descaling.
