What are LTE smartwatches?
An LTE or 4G smartwatch is a watch with a built-in eSIM. This is a digital SIM card that provides access to the 4G network. This way, you're always connected to the internet, even when you leave your smartphone at home. An LTE or 4G smartwatch are the same, but they have a different name. We'll explain how an LTE smartwatch works and what you need for it in this article.

Connected everywhere
To use your smartwatch optimally, you need internet. Normally, your smartwatch is connected to the internet via your smartphone. This way, you'll receive your texts and you can listen to Spotify via your smartwatch. Wit a 4G smartwatch, you don't need your smartphone. Listen to your online music playlist during your run, without your smartphone. You can also receive calls and messages on your smartwatch.
eSIM phone plan
An LTE smartwatch has a built-in digital SIM card. You can connect this eSIM to your mobile phone plan, so you use the data from your phone. This way, you'll have 2 SIM cards with the same number. You do need to have an eSIM plan of your mobile provider for this. Not all providers offer eSIM plans yet. Check this before you purchase a 4G smartwatch.
