Supercardioid microphones are very sensitive at the front and almost not sensitive at the back. This means that this type of microphone records sound more precisely than a cardioid microphone. You can use a supercardioid microphone on stage for vocals. Most shotgun microphones also have a supercardioid directional characteristic. A shotgun microphone with this type of directional characteristic is ideal if you want to record sound directly without registering sound from the sides.
