Switches with SFP ports get the most out of your fiber optic connection. The ports transmit your fiber optic connection to other switches. That's why most switches have 1 or 2 SFP ports. The switch receives the signal with the first port and further transmits the signal with the second port. You won't lose speed when the switches divide the data over fiber optics that way.
