A heavy lens indeed, but what you get is great! I had the 70-300 but for events unfortunately it was clumsy! So have it replaced by this 18-300. She makes beautiful and sharp pictures of both short distances and long distances. The lens is worth the money! I definitely recommend it! I am sorry that the hood is a bit small. Inconvenient to attach a rain hood to. But I think I have a solution for it.

Testing out my new purchase less than 24 hours after ordering: what a device! We bought this lens to replace the 2 standard lenses (18-55 and 55-200) which gave us the necessary clumsiness during our long journeys (changing the lenses, etc.). I must say that this purchase is very worthwhile for both close-up and distant objects. A downside is indeed the weight, but we knew that in advance and it doesn't really bother us. Excellent service and order processing. TOP!
