There is nothing better than waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread. No more 'sponge' bread from the supermarket for us. Only good filling, fresh and responsible bread. There is a clear description of the device and all associated functions (including a number of recipes) so that the baking process really can not go wrong. On my first try, I had put the ingredients in the wrong order, but still a nice loaf of bread came out! (See photo for my first bread baking attempt)

Although we ordered the bread machine from a health point of view (know what you eat/fresh bread whenever you want), I was curious what such a homemade bread would cost me (stay a Dutchman anyway). For the fellow curious among us, here's my calculation: The price you pay per loaf depends on the ingredients, energy and depreciation of the bread maker.

Ingredients: To start easily with bread baking, I use a 'super whole wheat' bread mix that I bought at the local supermarket (2.99 for 2 kg). I use 320 grams of this per loaf (I adjust the flour to the yeast bags), so for the mix I pay 48 cents per loaf. In addition, I need 1 bag of yeast (3 cents), salt and water (1 cent). The total of ingredients for my bread costs me 52 cents per loaf.

Energy: The bread maker has a power of 600 watts. The bread baking program I use takes 3.5 hours. Where the bread maker does not run at full power for at least the first 2.5 hours.
