Bought as a (worthy) replacement for the much more expensive Douwe Egberts Mocca Master. It took some getting used to, because this device needs less coffee to make a good cup. This is probably due to the special spray system, which distributes the water evenly over the coffee filter. So the first cup was just as bitter, but after I adjusted the amount of coffee I really don't want anything else!
This machine makes really delicious coffee. I usually brew "4-6" cups (which practically amounts to 2-3, because I like a big cup of coffee) and I'm fine. A single cup also does this device very well, with the special "1-4" setting, which allows the water to drip a little more slowly. That makes the coffee even tastier!
The device is very easy to use and even has a self-cleaning function that automatically descales with a few cups of vinegar and water. If you do that once per pack of coffee filters, you can keep your device nice and clean without too much effort. The removable coffee filter holder can easily be cleaned manually every day.
My only complaint is that the hot plate doesn't stay on for long. This is of course because old coffee is undrinkable, but I find that sometimes I have to rush to finish my 2-3 cups before the coffee gets cold. Sometimes I don't make it and then the lukewarm coffee goes into the microwave for a while (and still tastes great). It's a shame I can't snooze turning off the device.
