My current receiver only does HDMI 1.4 and my media player 2.0b. By using this box I send the image directly to my OLED TV via connection 1 and via connection 2 to my receiver. Connection 2 is only used for images and this splitter can downgrade it so that my receiver can always handle it. Result: beautiful HDR image on the TV and no new receiver needed.
