According to our mobile phone expert
With the iPhone X, Apple says goodbye to the recognizable appearance of its smartphones with a round home button beneath the screen. The button has been replaced by a large screen that takes up the device's entire front display. This means the screen has almost no edges and that you can enjoy a larger screen while the phone itself is smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus. The fingerprint scanner has been replaced by so-called Face ID. The smartphone takes a 3D scan of your face and unlocks the phone as soon as it recognizes you. Take photos with the dual 12-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. This camera produces sharp photos, even if you move the camera slightly or take photos in low light. For the first time, both the front and the back of the iPhone X are equipped with portrait mode.

Since birth I have owned quite a few mobile phones and brands. BlackBerry, CAT, HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Siemens, Sony Ericsson. After dozens of phones, I made the switch to the Apple iPhone in 2012 and I've never looked back...
The Apple virus has now spread throughout my family and even my grandmothers are equipped with iPads. Last September it was that time again, the new iPhone. My 1 year old iPhone 7 Plus was returned and the iPhone X was welcomed into our household. Just make a copy to my new device, pair my Apple Watch and I was ready to go.
I'm not going to discuss every detail because secretly this device isn't that exciting at all if you have an iPhone 7 or newer, but there are a number of points that I want to briefly mention.
For starters, why is Apple my preference over other brands? This is mainly due to the fact that other brands, even the big ones like Samsung, have a ridiculously bad update policy with their Android devices. There is only a small selection of devices that are equipped with an Android version without unnecessary junk and that are provided with (security) updates in a timely manner. In addition, I do not want to be able to adjust everything to my phone. What Android user has not even seen the DCIM and LOST.DIR folders on their device or computer? If I want to see photos I want to click on photos and not search between media, images and DCIM. I also hate the Play Store's open policy. The system layer of Android is easy to access and customize. Android's security sometimes leaves something to be desired and I appreciate Apple's strict update policy (updates every month) and the requirements that apps must meet in the store (a good example is when Apple forced developers to adapt their apps to the x64 architecture, simply put developers had to optimize their apps for speed and stability otherwise the app would be removed from the App Store).
Anyway. I'm going to briefly walk through this device. First of all, the screen. The device is a nice size and fits well in my pockets. In addition, the vast majority of the device is spent on the screen. The screen is 5.8 inches and therefore offers enough space for web pages, emails and videos. The image quality is good, the screen is pressure-sensitive, supports HDR (more colors) and adapts effortlessly to the color and light of the environment. Black is also really black because of the OLED screen, which also saves the battery.
The second point is the unexpectedly well-functioning sensors responsible for facial recognition. Setting it up takes less than a minute and the technology without problems, even at night without light. The sensors are incorporated just above the screen, and strangely enough, distraction is hard to find after a few hours of use. Videos can possibly be reduced in size so that the so-called notch does not stand out at all.
As usual, the device feels very sturdy and of course the device is water and dust resistant. The stainless steel feels very premium as we are used to from Apple and the glass finish provides a nice appearance. However, a case is recommended because the glass on the back is quite sensitive to drops, bumps and fingerprints.
The software is well matched to the device. The operation is simple because the controls are adapted to the dimensions of the device. In addition, facial recognition is super handy when logging in to different apps.
As we are used to, the cameras are also very good. Both cameras are able to estimate depth effortlessly and can create a blurred background so that the main subject comes first. The portrait mode is able to create professional-looking photos by adjusting the light to the desired situation. The cameras recognize muscle movements and the colors of the photos/videos are sharp. The iPhone offers a hardware stabilizer that ensures stable images, even when running or filming freehand. Even shooting and updating movies in 4K at 60 frames per second is no problem for the device. The face detection, depth measurement, optical image stabilization, optical zoom and wide-angle and telephoto lenses once again provide unparalleled images and make Apple the leader in the camera field in my opinion.
The device contains the fastest processor we can find on the market. No Android device comes anywhere near the performance of this iPhone. The processor is used, among other things, to accurately measure movements, but also to perform adaptive facial recognition, a self-learning system that recognizes changes in your face. In addition, the processor offers enough power to apply augmented reality to apps and games.
As usual, the battery lasts a long time. The software is smart enough to restrict apps in the background and Siri allows the phone to prep apps for use through predictions. Wireless charging is of course also possible, although I will not use it myself. Nice and handy but still slower than wired charging.
The software works nicely again. Now I'm not going to explain every detail, but small things like indoor navigation at stations and airports, the suggestions that Siri offers based on location and history are very useful and of course everything syncs very well with my iPad and my Apple Watch. The installation of my new device was arranged within 30 minutes. Just put my new phone next to my old one, take a photo, enter a password and a copy was made. Very handy!
Conclusion... as usual the iPhone does not disappoint. I maintain that iPhone is the best phone for my needs and I think the price of €1329,- is justified. Think of it as a mattress that you use 1/3rd of the day. I just want a stable, fast and high-quality device that is also provided with security updates in a timely manner. And that all comes together with the iPhone series from Apple.

First and foremost I would like to say that there are currently equally good or better devices on the market in the same price category or a price category lower.
Why should this iPhone be for you? If you got caught up in the Apple environment and immediately fell in love with the simplicity of these devices, the X is really something for you.
Not only is it a very fast device, but how this device communicates with my other apple devices is simply phenomenal.
Of course you have to pay a penny for this device, but if you are an avid apple user, it is definitely worth it.
For someone who is looking for a new mobile phone but doesn't know anything about Apple: you better look at an android mobile phone!
