According to our thermostat expert
You can control the thermostat remotely with the Nest app on your smartphone or tablet.
The large and illuminated screen shows the time and temperature, and lights up when you enter the house.
Within a week, the Google Nest Thermostat learns your daily schedule and it'll keep on learning your lifestyle.
This thermostat doesn't work if you have a hybrid or reversible water pump, district heating without a thermostat or a heater that runs on electricity, wood, or biomass.
It's difficult to install this thermostat, because you have to cut the existing wires and work with electricity.
The Google Nest Learning Thermostat ensures that your home is always at the ideal temperature. That's because this thermostat learns every time you adjust the temperature. This way, the Nest thermostat predicts at what time you leave every day. The thermostat then automatically lowers the temperature when you don't need a warm home. Thanks to geofencing, the thermostat also knows when your smartphone is nearby again. This way, you can come back to a heated home. The thermostat is modulating, but the Nest V3 also works with on/off boilers. You can control the temperature yourself via the Google Home app. You can see the time and temperature on the extra large screen. The screen lights up when you come in. Every month, you get an overview of the energy used. That way, you know exactly what your monthly energy costs are.

Nice thermostat. Turning the ring feels very solid. The screen is beautifully bright and clear. The app is also very intuitive, you are used to that.
I hung the thermostat on a standard wall socket in the wall where the wires from the boiler come out. The Nest is the same size as a wall socket, so it just doesn't close nicely. Your only option if you don't want to look at the crumbling edges of the stucco; use the supplied back plate. This is in turn so insignificant that the minimalist design of the Nest is not done enough. The white plastic looks cheap.
The thermostat is connected to my Nefit Topline CV through an Opentherm converter. The heating functions work well. The hot water supply is minimal. With my old thermostat (Moduline 300) I could set when the hot water supply had to be turned on or off. For example, there is no need to keep hot water at the right temperature at night, which does not benefit gas consumption. I can only set the hot water temperature on the Nest, no further settings are possible.
I also miss other information that the Nest could have extracted from the Opentherm data; supply temperature, return temperature, pressure in the central heating boiler, etc., all not visible while this could be read on cheaper thermostats (Lyric T6 for example).
Also, since last year no information can be read by Domoticz, support for Apple HomeKit is not available.
The temperature deviates slightly upwards, I understand that this is due to charging the thermostat, this should decrease in the coming days.
For the money you have to pay for a Nest thermostat, I find the functionalities disappointing in my situation. It is now a very expensive clock thermostat that I can switch on/off remotely.
I'm sending the Nest back and going to try a Tado anyway; it can read the Nefit protocol without converters or Heatlinks, etc. It's a shame, because I think the Nest is one of the most beautiful thermostats on the wall.

The only pity is that the description is made so difficult, it all seems very complicated. Because from the moment of ordering, a technician is already recommended. If you look on google it all seems very complicated so I was a bit afraid to install it myself. I have an atag A325C here and to be honest I had never seen it on the inside.
Now I was lucky that I immediately connected the right wires and therefore saw blue light, and could continue. You are neatly guided through the installation and it is really a piece of cake. If you don't see any blue light, try reversing the wires in OT1 and OT2. Since I no longer wanted the thermostat on the wall, I bought a stand a day later. At first I really doubted because of many reactions that it would all be so difficult to install, but for a 48-year-old lady like me who had never seen a boiler from the inside, it was really a piece of cake. It was a pity that you didn't come with a power supply wire or other wires, so you have to have them yourself.

Great thermostat. Everyone can handle it. Once a month you will receive an overview of your energy consumption in burning hours of the boiler. Very nicely designed. And easy to operate remotely. Top device
