22-07-2019 review Polar Ignite I've been using the Polar Ignite for 2 weeks now and I'm very excited about this sports watch. The watch looks like an ordinary and, in my opinion, beautiful watch. Case and silicone strap are comfortable and I wear the watch 7x 24 hours without irritation. Installing the Polar Flow App on the smartphone and Flow sync on the PC goes smoothly and the connection between watch and smartphone (via Blue Tooth) and the PC (via USB cable) is established smoothly. Syncing Polar and smartphone takes less than a minute. The quick start guide will get you up and running quickly with your Polar . The comprehensive manual can be downloaded from the Polar website on the Internet. The basic menu is logical and intuitive. The single button operation and touchscreen work excellent. Even during workouts with sweaty fingers. The touchscreen works, predictably, more erratic during showering/swimming, you'd better lock the screen. A drawback of the Polar Ignite is the screen that switches off very quickly to save battery. To reactivate the screen, turn the watch towards your face. I was looking for a replacement for my Fitbit Charge. Why? I wanted a watch that records my route, provides information about running speeds, enables heart rate zone training, and can (swim) in water. I already found Fitbit's sleep tracking interesting, so I didn't want to compromise on it. The watch also didn't have to be too bulky, since I have a small wrist and wear it during sports and work. With that, most Garmins already dropped out.

And suddenly there appeared to be the Ignite. A nice and not too big sports watch, with a pleasant battery life (4-5 days) and good heart rate registration. With that he already beat all android smartwatches in my opinion.

I've been using the watch for about two weeks now. It was a bit of a puzzle to get all settings right with the app (and that is mainly up to me, because I want to find out everything). With running it is very helpful with the interval training for the heart rate zones. The endurance runs are also well registered. When cycling, the current speed does deviate from my cycling computer, but a comparable summary is produced over the entire route. Nice to have those speeds in addition to the heart rate. CrossFit is not included as a sport profile, so I use functional training for that. Works fine.

The registered height differences of the GPS (I think) are incorrect. I have no idea what that's based on either. So I don't use that anymore.

What I do use is the Sleep Analysis icm. the training advice. Where I used to mainly follow my training agenda, I now let my watch 'advise' me and I shift my type of training. That Sleep Analysis is really impressive. Last weekend I didn't feel quite top, and that is also 'perceived' by the watch. The endurance training I had devised (and performed) felt worthless and lifeless. The watch already indicated that I should do a different type of training, but yes, stubborn. Fortunately, the watch just doesn't say 'I told you so' :-).

The training advice also gives examples of training, including exercises and description. Top!

Cons? Yes, the height measurement. And the lack of multisport mode (for the triathlon for example). Bright sunlight on it results in reduced legibility.
