Received the Precision Brewer Glass SDC400 a few weeks ago. We wanted to go from a bean machine back to a filter coffee machine.
The packaging itself looks nice, but it is not really handy when unpacking. Some parts are really hidden and you have to look for them after unpacking.
The installation is very simple, only sometimes the manual does not match what the device itself says. During installation you can use the water hardness strip that is included in the package.
There are many options/positions for a filter coffee machine. You have fast, gold, mybrew, pour over and cold brew.
We have used all settings and we always set it to Gold. The others are also good and fun to experiment with, so with my brew and pour you can set up to 4 different things such as lead time etc.. so that you can program your own favorite flavor settings.
The taste on Gold is fantastic and many times tastier than a normal filter coffee machine.
The coffee machine is quite smart, it knows exactly how much water is in the reservoir through various sensors. If you put in just enough water for 1 cup, it adjusts exactly for 1 cup and so on. The only thing you have to do yourself is the right amount of coffee with a filter.
Unfortunately, you cannot remove the water reservoir. You do get a nice handy coffee scoop with it.
You can use 3 different filters in the device.
A 4 filter, a large coffee filter and an environmentally friendly iron filter. This last filter works well, only we find the taste better with a normal filter.
The filter tray and the coffee pot both have a leak stop and can therefore always be removed without dripping. There is also a hot plate under the coffee pot that gets really hot. You could almost make food on this haha.
I like the design of the coffee maker and it is very solid.
