According to our VR headset expert
With the 256GB storage, you can store up to 2 times as many games on your VR headset than on the 128GB version.
With a resolution of 3664x1920 pixels and the LCD screen, you see everything in VR as sharp as with your own eyes.
You can use the Meta Quest 2 without cable or external sensors, so you can use this VR headset right away.
The included cable isn't long enough to play Rift S games, you'll need a 5m Link Cable for that.
Because the battery of the Quest 2 doesn't last long on a full charge and the headband isn't as comfortable, we recommend the Elite Strap with battery.
Play virtual reality games without needing a PC with the lighter Meta Quest 2. Meta is the new name that replaces Oculus and this VR headset is part of Facebook. You can use this active headset wherever you want via the Meta app. That means you can enter virtual reality in your bedroom, the living room, or at a friend's house. The images look realistic on the screen of this VR headset, as the resolution is almost equal to 4K. In addition, this Quest 2 weighs 10% less than its predecessor. This allows you to game more comfortably. You're also not tied to cables that limit your movement options. The cameras on the VR headset scan the environment, creating six degrees of freedom (SDOF). This way, your movements are accurately followed by the headset. This technology recognizes when you jump, turn, or bend and translates this into the game you're playing. This makes your VR experience even more realistic. Thanks to the updated controllers, you have even better control over the virtual world than with the Meta Quest. You can save an average of about 80 games on this 256GB model.
Note: depending on the use, this Meta Quest 2 lasts about 2 to 3 hours on a full charge.

The Oculus Quest 2 is easy to use as VR glasses. This makes VR gaming accessible to me and I don't have to struggle through a 20-page manual. The screen of the Quest 2 also has a resolution that is almost 4K. But is the Quest 2 really an improvement on the Oculus Quest?
Gaming everywhere The Oculus Quest 2 are active VR glasses and that means I can game anywhere. Because I don't need a computer, I play around the house and in the office without being tied to a cable. I'm working really hard then.
Improved screen This Oculus Quest 2 has a single LCD screen. On paper that sounds less luxurious than a double OLED screen, but in practice it is an improvement. The resolution of the Quest 2 is noticeably higher than the resolution of the screen of the Oculus Quest. For me that means more fun, because the sharper the images look in-game, the more realistic the virtual world looks.
Nice controllers The controllers of the Oculus Quest 2 are comfortable to hold. They are not too big or too small and I can easily press all the buttons. I also have enough grip on the handles. It's nice that those controllers don't fly through the room during a game of fanatic Beat Saber.
Medium sound The headset is equipped with stereo speakers. The volume can be loud enough in my opinion, but for a real experience I have to put on an external headset. When I'm in my own virtual reality world, good surround sound completes the experience for me.
More wearing comfort I immediately feel as soon as I have the Quest 2 on, that it is lighter in weight than the Oculus Quest. This Quest 2 is more than 10 percent lighter than its predecessor, with a weight of around 500 grams. That increases wearing comfort. What is a bit of a shame is that the headband is disappointing. It is not easily adjustable and is not provided with soft filling for my baby soft skin.

VR puts you in another world from one moment to the next. But REALLY. This Oculus Quest 2 has such a high resolution that the view is crystal clear. The sound is simply good. Set it to a level that cancels out ambient noise and you'll be completely immersed in the virtual world.
Unfortunately, the Quest 2 doesn't come with any games by default, so you'll have to purchase them from the oculus store or try out demos. You can do this via the oculus quest 2 app on your phone, or the website or in the VR environment. It is true that you can get your money back if you have not played a game for more than 2 hours. Payment via the oculus store is possible via paypal or credit card and is secured with a pin code.
The first game I bought is Beat Saber, followed soon after by Space Pirate Trainer. Space Pirate trainer reminded me of Galaga and even further back space invaders. Fantastic game, where you also get quite hot. Also while playing Beat Saber you will get your movement. Practically all games can be played online and against others. There are even "party" games, such as Acron Attacik of the squirrels, where the VR player is a tree that has to protect its acorns from squirrels. The squirrels can be played by others via an app on a phone or tablet.
To start playing, first draw a guardian edge on the floor. This edge defines your playing field and must be free of obstacles (tables, chairs, cupboards, etc...). When you threaten to get out of your field while playing, you will be pointed out by a lighted cage. That works great! If you come well outside your playing field, the glasses will switch to passthrough, so that the cameras on the outside of the glasses give you a picture of the actual space in which you are.
While playing you will of course receive feedback via image and sound. In addition, you also get feedback via the controllers. For example, when you are charging a beam, the controller will vibrate from soft to loud. When you smash blocks in half with Beat Saber, you will feel resistance through the controller. This is wonderfully put together and feels natural.
When you put the glasses on, you have to be careful not to touch the lenses, because then they are immediately dirty again and you can clean them with a dry cloth. In the meantime, I've gotten a little more comfortable with it.
The carrying strap is also easy to adjust and the Quest 2 comes standard with a spacer for glasses wearers. You can put the lenses in a number of positions, so that they fit well with the position of your eyes. One has the eyes further apart than the other.
The mentioned battery life of 2.5 hours is correct. Charging is also very fast and an occasional break is not a bad thing either.
The only, often mentioned, disadvantage is the mandatory creation of a Facebook account. I have therefore created a separate facebook account for the Oculus.
I've been using the glasses for a week now and plan to use them for many more. Connecting to my laptop, for example, which is possible via the USB-C cable from the charger and trying out the SDK.
We will not be able to avoid buying more games, but with a price ranging from 5 to 30 euros, that is also doable. In terms of numbers, the range of games and apps did not disappoint me either. Still plenty to discover!
This Oculus Quest 2 256GB is my first experience with VR and it completely blew me away.
