I was doubting for some time between a full-fledged Kamado and this hybrid variant. Because the product was well received online by several well-known YouTubers with barbecue channels, I thought this was a good choice. In the meantime I have regretted because the quality control certainly leaves a lot to be desired.
Out of the box, this is not a good barbecue (or the one I got). The product came with a broken leg and a top vent that is not good. The barbecue also leaks a lot of air around, making it impossible to go low & slow with this BBQ without modifying yourself. Adding a gasket (felt roll) yourself between the lid and the top vent is essential to keep the temperature stable. The Kettle Joe does not close properly itself.
In addition to the above problem, I have been waiting for new parts for over two and a half months. Despite good customer service from Kamado Joe, the parts are practically unavailable.
I certainly expected more for this money, now I have been dealing with a malfunctioning product for two and a half months.
