First and foremost, there is the initial impression upon unboxing, and it is particularly good. My prejudices against Acer from years ago are apparently no longer justified! The device is very well packaged and feels solid and heavy. The description states that it is made entirely of plastic; however, the top is made of aluminum, which feels nice and premium.
Furthermore, the device comes with a charger, which is also very solidly built and does not get too hot during use. The specifications are decent, resulting in a quick boot-up, and once logged in, everything runs very fast and smoothly. I am also pleasantly surprised by the screen, which is a touchscreen. You can also use this device as a tablet, and the hinge feels sturdy; however, the device is a bit too heavy for that for me.
As a full replacement for a Windows device, you have to take a number of limitations into account, but the smoothly functioning OS more than makes up for that, and there are many apps as alternatives for any software that you cannot download, purchase, or/and install like on a Windows PC. However, if you are already well-versed in the Google/Android ecosystem, this is a golden addition; it works very intuitively and is a true breath of fresh air... Highly recommended, especially for this price. The listed downsides are therefore more points to consider and will not really be a disadvantage for most users...

My first experience with Chrome OS a few years ago was certainly positive, but due to my predominantly Windows 11 usage at the time, it was a bit redundant. In tablet form, on the other hand, the OS is actually too big and unwieldy. As far as I am concerned, however, it is currently a worthy replacement for a laptop. For most programs for Windows or Mac, there are excellent app alternatives or web applications. There are also good alternatives regarding video editors. Perhaps not for professionals, who will still be better off with Windows or Mac. For daily use, however, this is perfect. The Acer is reasonably built, but is made entirely of plastic. However, it is a solid device that does not creak easily. With the 16" touchscreen, 8GB of RAM, an i5 processor, a backlit keyboard, and more than enough porting, you get a fast device. Perhaps it is worth waiting for the new Google Books? But those will be a lot more expensive initially...

Internet, email, and text processing, On the go, School, Streaming movies and seriesOur digital expert will help you, but it can sometimes make mistakes, like humans do.
According to our laptop expert
You can flip the touchscreen 360 degrees and use the Chromebook as a tablet, so you can watch movies and series comfortably.
This Chromebook Plus has more storage, uses AI functions to improve your work, and ensures high-quality video calls.
You can smoothly switch between apps and perform medium demanding tasks with the Intel Core 3 processor and 8GB RAM.
If you want to perform demanding tasks and make graphic edits, choose an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor.
The glossy screen is more susceptible to grease stains and fingerprints, and you're more bothered by light.
Note: you can only download apps from the Google Play Store. Not all Windows or macOS programs work the same way or are available to download on a Chromebook. Want to use Office? Keep in mind that you can only work in a web version of the app.
With the 14-inch Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 (CP514-4HN-379X), you can smoothly switch between medium demanding apps, use it as a tablet, and use AI while you're working. Fold the touchscreen 360 degrees and take smooth notes on the screen. This Chromebook Plus works with Google AI technology, so you can let Google Gemini improve your texts in Google Docs and edit photos in Google Photos. Via the Full HD webcam, you can also make high-quality video calls. You save files both online and locally on the 256GB SSD. The Intel Core 3 processor and 8GB DDR5 RAM are strong enough for that. You can even continue to work on your texts on the go since this Chromebook only weighs 1.5kg. And thanks to the backlit keyboard, you can easily find the right keys at night. Your Chromebook has long battery life, starts up quickly, and is less vulnerable to viruses.
