Philips Airfryer 5000 Series Dual Basket NA555/00

Over the past few weeks, we have extensively tested the Philips 5000 Series Dual Basket NA555/00 (stainless steel version). This is an Airfryer with two separate baskets and a steam function.

This is now our fourth Airfryer. We started with the original model, followed by the XL (which now serves as a ‘holiday Airfryer’) and the XXL (which we keep as a reserve). Now we are ready for a more luxurious version with extra functionalities. The first thing that stands out is the sleek and modern design. Thanks to the stainless steel finish, it is a real eye-catcher in the kitchen. The appliance is quite large – about 30% wider than the XXL – so you need to have enough space for it. A handy extra is the included cable manager, with which you can neatly hide the cord.

The two baskets can be used separately, but also at the same time. A handy function is the option to set both baskets so that the dishes are ready at the same time, for example fries in one and snacks in the other. In addition, the steam function offers extra versatility: you can steam vegetables or fish in one basket while frying meat or potatoes in the other. This way, you can prepare a complete meal in one go without dirtying any extra pans. In addition, the baskets and racks are dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning easy. For a quick clean, you can also wipe the inside with a damp cloth (but wait until the appliance has cooled down!).

Despite the advantages, there are also a few disadvantages. The effective capacity is slightly smaller than that of the XXL. For a family of six, the capacity is on the tight side, especially if you prepare fries in one basket and snacks in the other. Baking also takes a little longer than with the XXL. Where we previously had crispy fries in 25 minutes, it now takes about 30 minutes. Not very annoying, but something to keep in mind.

Another point is that the baskets are no longer on a rail. In previous models you could leave the basket for a while without removing it completely from the appliance. Now it slides right out, which takes some getting used to. I noticed this when I let go of the basket and it almost fell off the counter – I just managed to grab it, but it was hot!

The Philips Airfryer 5000 Series NA555/00 is an absolute asset for any family looking for convenience and efficiency in the kitchen. Thanks to the double baskets, you can prepare multiple dishes at the same time, making it better for use as a family than a standard airfryer. This makes the appliance particularly suitable for larger families or people who like to prepare complete meals in one go.

What makes this airfryer extra special is the steam function. This allows you to prepare not only crispy dishes, but also healthier meals with steamed vegetables or fish. This offers a lot of variety and flexibility in the kitchen, without the need for extra pans or equipment.

The airfryer is very easy to use: the control panel is double, which takes some getting used to. But the settings are clear.

All in all, this is an excellent choice for families looking for a versatile and efficient airfryer. The combination of double baskets and the steam function makes it a real all-rounder in the kitchen. An absolute must! However, I do think the price is on the high side.

The airfryer looks nice, the design is sleek and does not look out of place in the kitchen. It has to, because it is too big to store in a cupboard. There is no paper manual with the appliance, but there is a QR code with which you can download an app with the instructions and recipes. I think that is a downside because I prefer to read from paper, but that is personal.

The two baskets can be operated separately. The large basket has an airfryer setting as well as a steam setting. The large basket is smaller than the basket of the old XL airfryer and a whole bag of fries does not fit in it. We have tried a number of meals and have noticed that the operation is not clear. Especially if you have to shake in between, it is not clear whether the airfryer will switch on again when you slide the basket in.
