ACT AC8340 Monitor Arm 49 inches with Gas Spring for 1 Monitor

I bought this monitor arm for my MSI MPG 491CQP 49" ultrawide monitor. Several monitor arms were recommended for this monitor on Coolblue, some with more reviews. However, there were numerous complaints that these couldn't handle the weight of a 49" monitor. The screens would tilt forward because there wasn't enough friction in the top hinge.

That's why I chose this monitor arm. In the photos, the construction of this one seemed sturdier than the others. Instead of friction, this arm has a spring mechanism in the top hinge. You can adjust this to be tighter or looser, depending on the monitor it's going to hold. The total height is adjustable using the gas spring, and the monitor moves smoothly back and forth and forward and backward. I even had to loosen the gas spring and spring slightly for tilting because they were set too tight for my monitor from the factory.

This arm is also slightly cheaper than the other monitor arms offered.

Installation is a breeze with the clear manual and included tools. There's plenty of room to conceal cables in the integrated cable ducts.

Definitely recommended for even the heaviest/largest monitors!

The table clamp construction is very well thought out. You don't have the typical turning knob sticking out at the bottom!

I'm glad I chose this somewhat more expensive, solid one with gas spring. I think the finish is excellent.

The construction drawing is well thought out with letters and letters on the separate bags with bolts and parts. So you can carry out step by step and only open the correct bags when you are at that step. Never seen before, very good.

Pivot points were stiff, not or hardly greased. So spray some grease on them yourself. No penetrating oil from the well-known 40 brand and PFAS free. Suddenly the arm turns and hinges very smoothly and neatly.

So glad I finally have this and that monitor foot, which also had too little rotation (limited in the foot for no apparent reason) is now off the table! The monitor can now be turned a quarter turn or more super easily.

However, I had made a mistake in the 'length', how far the arm can go from the pivot point. The drawing, which is neatly included with the product description, fortunately, was not read or understood correctly. So 5-6cm shorter than desired. I would like that length a bit longer, extra segment, up to 80-90 cm reach, but that does not seem feasible with a table clamp foot: many alternatives looked at and all in the same order of magnitude 'length'. Then this is in my opinion the most beautiful design.

Exactly the monitor arm I need. It's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. It attaches securely to the desk and moves smoothly.
