The Samsung QS90H is a stylish soundbar that pairs beautifully with lifestyle TVs, such as The Frame or the OLED S99H. Thanks to the built-in gyro sensor, you always enjoy realistic sound, whether you mount the soundbar on the wall or place it on a surface. Unfortunately, the QS90H does not come with a subwoofer or rear speakers, meaning you won't immediately bring a complete home cinema into your home. This is the case with many other Samsung soundbars.

Lifestyle design with built-in gyro sensor The QS90H is intended as an all-in-one soundbar that looks great under any TV. It really stands out, especially under lifestyle TVs like The Frame or the OLED S99H. This is due to the built-in gyro sensor. Thanks to this feature, the soundbar automatically recognizes whether it is mounted under the TV or placed on a TV stand. This ensures you always enjoy realistic sound and gives the soundbar the ideal spot within your TV setup. Personally, I would mount the soundbar under my television for the sleekest look. Spacious 7.1.2 channel sound This all-in-one approach is also reflected in the speaker setup. The QS90H is a 7.1.2 channel soundbar with 7 forward-facing channels, 2 upward-facing channels, and a built-in woofer. This allows you to enjoy rich sound with a good balance between bass, midrange, and treble. The 2 upward-facing channels, in particular, ensure that you immediately hear Dolby Atmos sound in supported content, even without a subwoofer and rear speakers. The soundbar delivers realistic sound for movies, series, TV shows, and games. You hear every detail. Do you want a true cinema experience? Then I still recommend a separate subwoofer and rear speakers. The QS90H is a nice all-in-one soundbar for people who want a simple TV setup, but for a true cinema experience, you need a complete home cinema set. Wireless Home Cinema Setup Even though you don't get a subwoofer or rear speakers with this soundbar, it still provides a good foundation for your future home cinema setup. You connect the soundbar wirelessly to other audio systems and enjoy wireless Dolby Atmos at the same time. This means you only need power for a spatial sound experience and won't see any cables running across the floor or along your TV stand. So, connect your system via Wi-Fi, choose a Dolby Atmos movie, and enjoy.

I was curious what to expect from this soundbar, and it pleasantly surprised me. Connecting it was quick and hassle-free. Within a few minutes, I was already able to watch a movie.

The sound is nice and full. The soundbar features 13 speakers and a built-in woofer. As a result, you hear much more detail than with the speakers of a standard TV. Even when you turn up the volume, the sound remains beautifully clear.

During movies, the spatial sound stands out in particular. Thanks to the two upward-facing speakers and True Dolby Atmos, it seems as if the sound is coming from above as well. That makes an action movie or suspenseful series even more enjoyable to watch. The built-in gyrosensor ensures that the sound remains good, whether you place the soundbar on a TV stand or mount it on the wall.

The bass is powerful enough for most movies and music. Of course, a separate subwoofer provides a bit more punch and deeper bass tones, but for a soundbar without a separate subwoofer, this one performs surprisingly well. If you do want more bass later on, you can fortunately expand the system.

Using it is simple. You can connect the soundbar in various ways. Think of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI eARC, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and Chromecast built-in. This allows you to easily stream music from your phone or tablet.

The design is also beautiful. The soundbar looks sleek and fits neatly under the TV. If you prefer not to have a device on your TV stand, you can also mount it on the wall.

The Samsung Cinematic Q-series Soundbar HW-QS90H has been at my home for a few weeks now and is performing excellently so far. It comes with a remote control and the necessary cables. Installation via the Samsung app was quick and easy. Everything was set up and ready for use within a few minutes.

I am very satisfied with the sound quality. The sound is full and clear, with both the highs and lows coming into their own well. You clearly notice the added value of Dolby Atmos, especially with movies. The sound fills the room and really seems to come from different directions. It doesn't quite match a full-fledged surround sound system with separate speakers, but for a single soundbar, it comes surprisingly close. Even without a separate subwoofer, the bass sounds solid enough. If you do want more bass or a stronger surround effect, you can expand the soundbar later with a subwoofer and extra speakers.

You can easily switch between the different sound modes using the remote control. Personally, I usually leave the soundbar on the same setting, because the sound already sounds very good then. I use the built-in Google Assistant regularly, though. This way, I can control my smart home devices with my voice and no longer need a separate smart speaker.

The HW-QS90H is therefore a good choice for those seeking powerful and spacious sound, but who do not want to place a complete surround sound system with speakers and cables in the room. It is a significant investment, but in return, you get a lot of ease of use and impressive sound quality.
