Advice on choosing a power bank
What power bank should I choose?
It's important to buy a power bank that suits your needs. Do you only use it occasionally to charge your smartphone? A power bank with a lower capacity will suit you. Do you need a power bank daily or for longer vacations, to charge multiple large devices? Choose a power bank with a larger capacity. I'll explain what to look for per usage situation and device type.
Do you use your power bank daily?
Looking for a mobile phone charger to use and carry with you every day? A smaller power bank is the most practical. If you always have it with you, it won't be hard to charge, so you won't need a large capacity. A power bank that gives your phone an energy boots on the way home should be just fine.
Are you going out for the day and want to avoid not being able to take photos because your phone ran out of battery? Take an external charger with you. Because the power bank serves as a backup, you don't really need a large capacity. Choose one that is easy to take with you in your bag or backpack.
Do you use the power bank during longer trips?
If you're going to a festival for one or more days, a portable charger is a necessity. Make sure to choose a power bank that can charge your device multiple times. You can easily check by looking up the capacity (mAh) of your smartphone and comparing it to the capacity of the power bank. With a power bank of 20,000mAh, you can charge your smartphone between 5 and 7 times.
If you're going on vacation and want to charge multiple devices multiple times, a powerhouse power bank is a must. Make sure how many devices the power bank can charge at the same time, and which devices it can charge. Traveling by plane? You can take a power bank up to 27,000mAh with you. Going on a longer trip to a sunny place? A solar power bank might be what you need. A solar power bank contains solar cells, which are used to charge the power bank. That's useful if you don't have a socket nearby, like at a festival or at the beach.
What type of device do you want to charge?
If you want to charge a smartphone, we'd recommend a power bank with a capacity of at least 5,000 mAh. You can charge your smartphone multiple times. A power bank with a lower capacity will also work, but you might not be able to charge your smartphone fully. The capacity of a smartphone battery usually ranges between 2,000 and 3,000 mAh.

If you want to charge a tablet, we'd recommend a power bank with a capacity of at least 10,000 mAh. You can charge your tablet multiple times. A power bank with a lower capacity will also work, but you might not be able to charge your tablet fully. The capacity of a tablet battery usually ranges between 5,000 and 10,000 mAh.

If you want to use your power bank to charge your laptop, you need at least 12,500 mAh. To charge a laptop, you need a specific kind of power bank. The more capacity, the better. A laptop battery needs a lot of power.

A smartwatch is the easiest device to buy a power bank for. The battery is so small, you can use any power bank to charge it, regardless of capacity or power. Do keep in mind that the higher the current of the power bank, the faster your smartwatch will charge. Make sure to check if you can charge your smartwatch in ways other than wirelessly. The power bank won't do much in that case.
