Apple announced the new iPhone models on 9 September 2024. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are the starter models of the iPhone 16 series. The big differences between the two devices is the size and the battery life. In this article, you can read all about these new Apple smartphones and when you can order them.

Apple iPhone 16 (Plus) pre-order
You can order your new iPhone 16 (Plus) during the pre-order period. Want to have your iPhone as fast as possible? Choose to pick it up in the store when you order. Your iPhone will then be ready at a store near you. Would you rather have your iPhone delivered to your home? That's also possible. You temporarily receive an extra trade-in discount if you trade in your old smartphone in the store. On the update page below, we'll give more information about the pre-order.
iPhone 16 (Plus): 2 versions and new buttons
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are the basic models of the iPhone 16 series. On the back, you’ll find a standard lens and a wide-angle lens to photograph vast landscapes with. You can even zoom in up to 2 times without quality loss. On the side, there's a special Action button that you decide what it does. There’s also another pressure-sensitive button that you can use for taking photos and videos. The iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Plus has an extra large 6.7-inch screen. The biggest differences with the iPhone 15 (Plus)
- The camera lenses are now below each other instead of diagonally, so you can record 3D videos for the Apple Vision Pro.
- The Action button replaces the switch. You choose the function of this button yourself. For example, use it to quickly turn on your flashlight.
- You can quickly take photos, zoom in, and swipe through various photo settings, thanks to the new pressure-sensitive Camera Control button.
- Thanks to the energy-efficient A18 chip, 3D games work even smoother and the battery life is longer.
- The battery of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro lasts at least 1 hour longer.
- Improved WiFi 7. You benefit from an even faster and more stable internet connection this way.
