Expert review of the DJI RC Pro Remote

I notice right away that the remote feels sturdy. Thanks to the rubber coating on the back, I have a lot of grip when I hold it. It won't easily slip out of my hand. I do find it heavy. The remote weighs 680g, which is almost 300g more than the DJI RC Smart Controller. I expect that my hands will get tired fast when I use the remote for a long time. In combination with the DJI Mavic 3 drone, I test the remote.

The design is sturdy and user-friendly, like I'm used to from DJI. The remote has a 5-inch display, which is a bit smaller than most phone screens. The display is large enough to clearly show details when you fly. In addition, I think the screen quality of the 1080p display is very good. The colors look realistic and the images are bright. That's because of the high brightness of the screen. I can clearly see the screen this way, even in bright sunlight. That's nice, because my phone screen is hard to see on a sunny day. With the DJI RC Pro Remote, I don't have this problem.

My DJI Magic 3 is comfortable to fly with this remote. The sticks move smoothly, so the drone also makes smooth movements. They're heavy enough, so I don't make unexpected movements with the drone when my finger slips. The remote has a few nice buttons, like a Return and Home button. With a push of the button, the drone flies towards you and lands. There's also a 5D button on the remote which I can assign a function to via the settings. I can choose from 9 options and set up 5 functions in total, like zooming in. This allows me to customize the remote like I want, which is great.

The unique thing about this remote is the large 15km range. That's very useful if you explore a large nature area. Thanks to the new OcuSync 3+ video transmission technology, the connection is stable even at long distances. I could really test that, due to the many No Fly zones in my area. Thanks to the maximum flight time of 46 minutes and a speed of 75km/h of my Mavic 3, I think the large range is a nice addition. I'm sure that's great abroad. This allows you to reach spots that are inaccessible to humans.

For vloggers or people on vacation, the livestream function is a nice addition. It allows you to stream the footage of your drone to social media platforms live. You can show unique images to your family when you're on a trip, for example. I expected it to be complicated to start a livestream, but it's actually easy. Via the settings on the remote, go to 'Transmission' and then to 'Live Streaming Platforms'. Enter the rtmp address of your stream. You can see that when you start a stream on social media. Choose the resolution and bitrate and you're ready to livestream. I think it's easy to use and that it's a great extra option.
