What are saving tips for an energy-efficient dishwasher?

When you pre-rinse the dishwasher, it consumes extra water and energy. So don't pre-rinse when you want to save energy. Do scrape your plates and bowls clean before you put them in the dishwasher. That's because large chunks can clog your filter.

If there's limescale on the heating element, it takes longer for the water to heat up. This way, the dishwasher uses more energy. When you regularly descale the dishwasher, you'll lower your energy costs and your dishwasher will clean your dishes better.
