What do you do if your range hood makes a lot of noise?

You have a range hood and you think that it makes too much noise. This is sometimes caused by an extraction hose that encounters too much counter pressure or if the sizes of the extraction hose don't connect properly. In this article, we'll tell you what you can do about this.

Reasons too much noise

A range hood makes noise when it extracts cooking fumes. Do you feel like your range hood makes a lot of noise? Check the following things.

  • Step 1: check the extraction hose
  • Step 2: check the sizes of the extraction hose
  • Step 3: choose a silent range hood

Step 2: check the sizes of the extraction hose

If the noise isn't caused by bends in the extraction hose, it's possible that the diameter of the range hood isn't a good fit. Check if the diameter of the hose matches the recommended diameter in the manual. Make sure you also check if it's the same over the entire length of the hose. It's also possible that the extraction hose is too long. In that case, you should check if you can shorten it. The shorter the hose, the lower the noise level of the range hood.

Step 3: choose a silent range hood

Did the tips above not work? Choose a silent range hood. A silent range hood usually has a maximum noise level of 50dB on setting 2. This is the most frequently used setting. Keep in mind that the range hood produces up to 65dB at the most intensive setting. A low noise level does affect the extraction rate. Make sure you check which extraction rate you need. That way, you know for sure your range hood can extract sufficient fumes.
