What's new about the iPhone 18 Pro design?
Like every year, the new iPhone looks like its predecessor. But there are a few innovative changes to the iPhone 18 Pro. For example, the device is available in different colors and the Dynamic Island is much smaller. There's also less of a color difference on the back. We'll tell you all about it.
Smaller Dynamic Island
Dynamic Island is the menu at the top of your screen, and it's much smaller on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. This means you're less distracted by it when watching a video, for example. When you're using Dynamic Island to check your notifications, for example, the menu becomes larger. So you can use Dynamic Island like how you're used to from older devices.
New colors, including Burgundy
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max mostly look different this year thanks to the new colors. The most striking color is burgundy, which Apple calls Cherry. This is an entirely new color, so you can really show off the fact that you have a new iPhone. You can also choose from [different colors].
Smaller color difference on the back
On the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, you saw a clear color difference between the rectangular area for MagSafe and the rest of the back. On the new models, that difference is less visible. This gives the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max a calm look. The strikingly large camera island is the same as on the 17 Pro and covers the entire width of the device. Due to improvements to the camera, the camera island has become a bit thicker.
Still an aluminum exterior
The housing is the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max is made of aluminum again, just like the iPhone 17 Pro. The exterior of iPhone models was always titanium before that, which is a bit sturdier and more luxurious. As of the iPhone 17, the Pro models are aluminum. This is necessary for the improved cooling system, because aluminum conducts heat better. This is why Apple chose an aluminum exterior again for the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.
