A ceramic cooktop is affordable to buy. It works with electric heating elements located under the ceramic glass. The heating elements get the characteristic red glow once you switch on the vitroceramic cooktop. This means that the cooking zone is hot enough to prepare your dish. The heating elements do need some time to heat up and cool off.
