Feast your eyes with the 2710M Monitor. At home or at the office, with this spacious widescreen monitor, you enjoy large proportions in High Definition. Open various documents, spreadsheets, webpages, or poker tables side by side and avoid clicking back and forth all the time. You work very efficiently thanks to the 27-inch screen size and the highly detailed resolution. Or enjoy HD movies without ugly black borders around the screen. With 16:9 aspect ratio, you use the entire screen. Or go all out with great games and immerse yourself in a world of superfast animations. You barely notice input latency in the images thanks to the low response time of the HP 2710M Monitor.
You might choose a monitor for its dimensions and the resolution, while the brightness and color contrast are just as important as the image quality. With the HP 2710M Monitor, you get it all. High brightness and high dynamic contrasts ensure a true visual treat.
The HP 2710M Monitor also contributes to a better environment with its low energy consumption, and ensures a lower energy bill. When the screen is on, it won't exceed 135W. An in standby mode, it won't be more than 2W.
You can easily connect both your laptop and desktop computer to the HP 2710M Monitor. Connect it via the standard VGA or DVI connector.

I have been using the HP 2710m monitor for a few days now and have been able to test it out. The monitor has pleasantly surprised me in terms of price, quality, functions and color reproduction. In short, this HP monitor, together with the glossy layer (HP BrightView Technology), makes an excellent monitor. I don't regret not choosing an IPS panel, which is up to 3 times more expensive.
SPECIFICATIONS
It's a 27? screen which corresponds to 68.6 cm. The panel is a TN panel, these panels are cheap and have a fast response time. One cannot really compare such a TN panel with an IPS panel, because the IPS panels are so many times more expensive. However, HP gives the user a beautiful panel with a glossy layer over it, the so-called HP BrightView Technology. This layer ensures that the colors come into its own and that black is really black (and not dark gray). A disadvantage of this layer is that it is very reflective, which is not very pleasant with a lot of sunlight. The screen has a 1920*1080 resolution, which corresponds to the well-known ?Full High Definition?. The brightness is 400 cd/m? and the contrast ratio is 1000:1 (static) or 60000:1 (dynamic). The response time of the display would be 2.5 ms gray to gray. It also has a VGA, DVI and HDMI input. The energy consumption, which is also not unimportant these days, amounts to a maximum of 135 W in use and 2 W in standby mode.
CONTENTS AND PACKAGING
The monitor is securely packed in a cardboard box with the necessary protective material. In addition to the monitor, the package also contains an extensive manual (and warranty booklet) in various languages, including Dutch. A CD-ROM with drivers, etc. is also available, but these drivers are not needed with modern operating systems. Both a DVI-D and a VGA cable are included, an HDMI cable is unfortunately missing. An audio cable (3.5mm jack ? 3.5mm jack) and a power cable are also included in the box. HP has integrated the power supply into the monitor, making an external adapter unnecessary. Nothing needs to be assembled or installed before use, the monitor is immediately ready for use.
COLOR DISPLAY
Once the monitor is connected, it is recommended to ?play with the colours? to get it right. By default, the colors are set to 9300K, in the OSD (On Screen Display) you can choose between different options. I immediately set it to 6500K, because I think these colors give the most realistic image. The panel has a wide viewing angle (170? horizontal, and 160? vertical), but tilting the monitor is necessary. The vertical viewing angle leaves something to be desired with regard to the black values. Viewed a little higher, one quickly gets a greenish black. The ultimate color and brightness/contrast settings can be obtained by following a simple calibration test. Such tests can be found online or on the supplied CD-ROM. Once everything has been set as desired, the colors are fantastic in my opinion. With films, you immediately get a (more) lively image. A downside, however, is the backlight bleeding of this monitor. This is present in my case, with backlight bleeding the light from the CCFLs is brighter at the edges of the screen than in the other places. This is especially present at the top of the screen. Personally, I do not find this disturbing, only with a black background it is clearly visible. What I was more afraid of when purchasing such a large monitor was the danger of dead (sub) pixels, luckily I haven't discovered any (yet)!
OSD
The screen has an extensive OSD (On Screen Display), this is a user menu in which you can find various settings. At the bottom of this review you will find some photos of this. In this menu you can adjust or enable/disable brightness, contrast, colours, energy saving and many more functions. This OSD is accessible by using the 4 menu buttons at the bottom of the screen. It is a simple and user-friendly menu with many options.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
This monitor is unique in a number of ways, because it has a lot of extra options. Among these options are the built-in speakers. These can be compared to budget speakers, not excellent but they do the job. Another function is the ?Ambient Light Sensor Mode?, the display has an integrated light sensor. By using this option, the screen can be adjusted automatically to the ambient light. Another simple function, which I find very useful, is being able to switch off the power LED. The power LED is a bright orange/blue LED, for example when watching a movie it is very unpleasant to sit with such a bright light in your field of view. HP is one of the few manufacturers to have this feature.
FINISH AND BUILD QUALITY
The monitor is mainly constructed from a sturdy plastic. The design consists of dark gray and silver accents. The foot is also silver colored. The display certainly does not feel cheap and also has sufficient cooling at the back/top. The monitor is easy to tilt, both vertically and horizontally. The (hidden) buttons at the bottom also feel sturdy and do their job well.
SUMMARIZED
The HP2710 is a solid and reliable monitor for a nice price (Coolblue currently still has a very competitive price for this item.). The monitor is mainly suitable for gaming and film. Below you will find some advantages and disadvantages of this device.
(The images below were taken with my mobile phone, my apologies for the lower quality. I will soon have to buy a camera from Coolblue :-) )

Ordered the 2710M via computer shop at a very nice price. It is now no longer available here, but for those who are still looking: perfect PC monitor.
Well, perfectly. Here's the nuance:
The colors are fantastic. I am a plug and play type and although I have tried the various settings, I am most satisfied after a "restore factory defaults".
27" is LARGE. I sit a standard desktop away from it and that's fine. When watching movies, I find it better to slide back a meter.
Vertical viewing angle is... bad. Perhaps a bit too strong as I don't know how it is with other LCD monitors but if you move away from the "sweet spot" it gets more blurry. Horizontal viewing angle is fine.
I connected my xbox to it for a while, but I don't think this monitor is suitable for that. The refresh rate is too slow and the colors are not as nice as a PC image. It works, but there is a clear difference between PC image and Xbox360 image quality.
Overall very satisfied with this monitor and I've had the usual quality at computerstore.nl.
