Philips HR7776 Avance Collection

December 19 I received this gem in a nice big Coolblue box. After much deliberation, I opted for the HR 7776 and not the HR 7778. I found it difficult to find the exact differences between them, so I'll list them right away:

The HR7778 comes with a juice centrifuge, Julienne disc (very fine strips) and a fries disc. These are included with the HR 7776, all three are not! The storage box for the knives is also missing, this is perhaps the biggest disadvantage of the HR7776!

In any case, the box contains the following:

• The chassis
• Mixing bowl, including lid with raised entry for more safety
• Blender
• Juice press attachment
• Beaters (for example for pancakes or cake batter)
• Dough hook
• grater
• Cutting disc (adjustable 1 to 7 mm)
• Cleaver
• Spatula

If we start at the top of the list, the chassis is relatively smaller than, for example, Magimix devices, the device is just as big as a normal board! The best thing about the chassis are the suction cups at the bottom, so the chassis does not shift even at full power. The speed knob is silver and just like the knobs below it feels amazingly sturdy. The buttons under the large rotary knob are preset positions for dough (this does not necessarily have to be bread), whipped cream or egg whites, and chopping ice cubes. Furthermore, the base has a safety lock. This makes the upper part more stable, more about that later.

The mixing bowl, the basic bowl in my home, is multi-use. All accessories, except the blender, are placed on the base bowl. It is dishwasher safe and made of plastic. The handle is black and feels a bit. It seems that the handle is hollow on the inside, which makes it feel a little less sturdy. The lid of the bowl has a high entry, so you really have to do your best to get your hands to the blades that cut. It comes with a plastic transit, which is exactly as deep as the input, so you never have to put your hands in the bowl when it's on. I wouldn't even try it.

The blender is made of the same plastic and the same applies as with the base bowl for the handle. The lid of the blender is made of flexible plastic and, in comparison with expensive glass blenders, no consensus seems to have been made here. A handy feature is that the cap of the blender is a 50 ml measuring cup.

All other accessories feel good. By the way, I do miss a bit of firmness in the blades. These are quite thin, but very sharp. I hardly ever grate by hand anymore.

You should compare the beaters with your electric hand mixer that everyone has in the kitchen, the advantage of this device is that you have your hands free to do something else. The mixers cannot be compared with the real kitchen aid or Kenwood mixers that Rudolf uses in his Bakery. These are just good simple mixers for a quick pancake batter, cake batter or to whip up egg whites.

The dough hook kneads a smooth dough, it takes relatively longer than when I do it by hand and as a hobby baker I am less concerned about the quality of the mixing. I often knead it with my hands for a while, especially when I use butter, but I think that is more of a certainty for myself that it is good anyway.

The chopping knife that can be placed at the bottom of the machine is ideal, you can chop almonds, nuts or other hard products so fine, but this does take a bit longer than with more expensive mixers, I think this is due to the power. If you keep the amount small, the machine works well.

All separate parts are beautifully made and the device looks very professional. I do notice that the knives are of lower quality than more expensive devices. The only question is whether that outweighs the price difference. I've been using it every day for almost three weeks now, including 2 Christmas dinners for 10 and 15 people and the knives are still razor sharp, but I did miss a bit of power and substance. More expensive devices often have a solution for this.

The positive thing about this device is the price first. For this amount you get an incredibly beautiful device that you will be very happy with for years to come. Second is the versatility, you can use it every night if you want. Thirdly, I think the quality is great, a very sturdy device that can go along with the devices of 250-300 euros on finish and quality. Finally, I think it's great that everything is dishwasher safe, but keep in mind that the plastic in your dishwasher can be damaged by the blades and that blades may become blunt faster.

If you can call it negative points, I first miss a storage box. This is included with the HR7778, the more expensive model. Second, I think the content of the basic bowl is a bit small, but it is more than enough for a normal family!

Ease of use is worth more than 5 stars, it works so simply and safely that a child can even work with it. The large rotary knob with stepless speeds works flawlessly. The buttons underneath also ensure the right speed for dough, egg white or whipped cream or for chopping ice cubes! The bins and accessories click in and out without much effort.

The cleaning is great, all accessories except for the base, of course, can be put in the dishwasher. Keep in mind that the color of certain vegetables can discolour, for example red beets, do not leave this and wash it immediately when you use these types of products. You can clean the undercarriage with a damp cloth, but it is absolutely not allowed under the tap.

I really like the design and it doesn't look bad on the counter at all. Although I do think that they have shortchanged the device by opting for hollow black handles. This makes the device feel less sturdy, which is a shame. I also think it's a shame that bowls are not made of glass, you can't expect that for this price.

The performance is great and it can easily keep up with more expensive devices. I give three stars for the performance because in my opinion it lacks a little bit of power in some cases. For example, when chopping ice cubes.

Versatility also gets four stars, because I think the more expensive device is worth 5 stars in terms of versatility. It lacks a juicer, which means that you will never get so much juice from carrots or pumpkin with this device.

I recommend the product to anyone who would like to get more out of life than just being in the kitchen. Or just really likes to be in the kitchen, a hobby chef can't do without such a great device.

I am very happy with my new food processor. Been looking around for a while and chose this one because of the many accessories that come with it. It is versatile, easy to use and works beyond expectations. Have now made several dishes with it; bread (dough ready in minutes), cake (batter ready in no time) and pasties and can't wait to make more with it. I really recommend it. It saves me time in the kitchen and space and it is easy to clean. In addition, it looks great in my kitchen. Think that all the extra accessories have been well thought out. In my opinion a must have in every kitchen!

I've had the food processor for a week now and I'm so happy with it! It is so nice to use and it goes so much faster than before with my separate devices or by hand. In no time you have a whole red cabbage cut into nice strips, chopped an onion or beaten up a nice dough! It is also nice that there are some speed dial buttons on it, making the machine easy to operate.

The food processor makes quite a lot of noise, but that is "normal" and absolutely not disturbing. It is also very easy to clean. Everything can go in the dishwasher except the motor unit. It also looks very nice and is a picture to keep on your counter! And you no longer need the other separate devices (blender, mixer and citrus press), which frees up space in your kitchen cabinets. The manual is not really clear it takes some puzzling but you will figure it out! It is a pity that the storage box for the accessories is not included with this food processor. Hopefully it will be available separately as well as extra discs and the juicer.
