According to our access point expert
It receives power via the network cable, so you can place it anywhere.
Easily turn on network security using the WPS button.
You can create up to 4 virtual wireless networks (VLANs) with different user rights.
Not dual-band. Only creates a WiFi network on 2.4GHz.
Create a safe and stable home or office WiFi network with the TP-Link TL-WA801ND. Connect the access point to the internet with a network cable. You can then easily connect laptops, smartphones, tablets, and other devices to the wireless network securely. The TP-Link TL-WA801ND has a PoE port and gets its power from the network cable. That means you can easily place the access point anywhere.
Great device for this price! Once out of the box it doesn't take 5 minutes to connect, even if you use the poe injector like me. Setup was very easy, quickly done via the Ipad. Everything is nicely explained in the accompanying manual , but anyone who has eaten a bit of cheese from networking will hardly read the book . It's just a pity that the antenna length was not mentioned anywhere, with this one: including the height of the ap you calculate 17cm, can just be placed on my bookshelf.

I bought this WiFi access point to use in combination with the Cisco EPC3925 modem router from Ziggo.
The main wish was a larger and more stable WiFi (2.4 Ghz) range for little money. And in that respect I am very satisfied.
In addition, the device turns out to be easy to set up (if you have a little experience) and to have a lot of options.
For me the most interesting are the possibilities to possibly exchange the antennas, to be able to use POE (power over the internet) and to use the device as a WiFi client.
The lack of 5 Ghz is not a problem in this price range and if necessary I can always switch on 5 Ghz on the ziggo cisco modem router.
With regard to range and especially stability of the WiFi signal, I get the best result by choosing the 11g only setting. Not all internet devices in our house have 11n and 54 Mbit/s is fast enough for us. Our internet connection has a max of 40 Mbit/s.
So for my purposes, this has turned out to be a great device for the time being and that for a nice price.

Very smooth installation, just connect the PC (or laptop) directly to the AP and go over all the settings. Since it is an access point and not a router, people with a Telenet modem/router will no longer have problems with double DHCP. Range is very good, thanks to the included POE injector you can place it wherever you want (up to 30m via network cable) and you are not tied to the socket. So it can be perfectly used as a 2nd access point somewhere in your porch or something to provide your garden with a sufficient signal. Considering the price, this is a top product!
