According to our range hood expert
Extremely energy-efficient range hood with an A+ energy label
With an exhaust capacity of 860m³/hour, it's suitable for large kitchens measuring 30m² or more.
The range hood is more powerful because the motor extracts air in 2 different places.
You need to buy the necessary material yourself to make your range hood suitable for recirculation.
With its sleek design, the Siemens LC98BE542 certainly attracts attention. In addition, you can easily adjust the LED lighting to your wishes using the dimming function. This wall-mounted range hood is not only striking from the outside. Inside, you'll find a very quiet motor that keeps the noise level low without sacrificing exhaust capacity. With 3 normal settings and 2 intensive modes, there are plenty of options for your chosen dish. In terms of maintenance you don't have to worry either: the range hood itself indicates when the dishwasher-safe grease filters are saturated and need cleaning. This way, you can be sure that your range hood will always function optimally.
If your kitchen doesn't have an exhaust ventilation system, simply purchase the necessary carbon filters.Siemens LC98BE542 Review, user experience, installation tips and more
Solid extractor hood, nice solid finish, with large sturdy stainless steel filters. Price/quality ratio seems very good to me.
Below a large piece of text, but hopefully interesting for those who also want to buy this hood
Good extraction capacity and the noise level remains reasonably within limits (air exhaust) But "Extremely quiet operation" as Siemens writes is a bit exaggerated we connected it with a smooth round pipe and immediately go outside through the kitchen wall if you turn off the hood, it makes a kind of "woooee" sound just before the fan is stopped
The LED lighting is much too "Hard" white, the specifications state color temperature 3500 K (softlight Warm white) but this looks more cool white of +/-6000 K (LED Warm white is a bit yellowish, slightly less than halogen lighting) it seems that they have used other (whiter) LED lights (with a higher color temperature) the lighting is then infinitely adjustable so that you can set it less bright, but unfortunately the next day it starts again at the max strength, too bad you can't adjust the light color
To test the filters, stuck white filter cloth on the double suction part, to see how much fat the stainless steel filters pass through and after frying meat a few times, did you already see a clear attack on 1 of the white filters (which can also get into the exhaust duct and fan) a simpler version of the activated carbon filter, but with a replaceable filter cloth, for example, would be a good option! the distance between the top of the pan supports (gas hob) and the bottom of the hood is over 68 cm we use a little liquid butter, no oil etc. and not on very high heat either
installation and hanging tips
The plugs have a "collar" and if you leave it on (or don't countersink the drill hole) do not fit the chimney/chimney and the bottom of the hood nicely against the rear wall or wall. I did leave the "collar" on the "suspensions" to prevent any sound vibrations
If you want to hang the extractor hood between 2 kitchen cabinets, for example, then you do not have to copy the dimensions of the drawing, because you cannot move the extractor hood to the left or right while hanging (due to the cabinets)! and the "suspensions" are all 2 the same (no L and R) plus the screw hole is not in the middle.
If you want the extractor hood at a certain height, e.g. flush with the handles of the cabinets then drill the holes a few mm lower, because you can adjust it up, but not down! or make a solid stand, place the extractor hood on it and then align it completely, you just have the space to drill (keep a vacuum cleaner with you) and screw it on.
Make sure that the extractor hood is not tight between the kitchen cabinets, but with a few mm of space (L and R) then later neatly seal the seams thinly with transparent silicone sealant (no grease and dirt can get in between later)
Before I placed the Chimney / fireplace, I glued a draft strip on the hood to prevent vibrations and the 2 holes with which you screw the "mounting angle" to the wall have been filed a bit (slot hole) so that you have just a little more leeway to get the chimney / fireplace tight against the ceiling. (and the drain pipe wrapped with a sound insulation blanket.)
The drain immediately goes outside through the kitchen wall if you put a grid with a grill or blades on it, for example, if the hood immediately makes more noise, then it cannot release its "pressure" properly, instead we put a gable hood (with a high passage) with a shut-off valve, so that you maintain as much free exhaust as possible (all this to get the noise level as low as possible) (You do not need the non-return valve supplied by Siemens (and it does not close completely)
The front is unfortunately quite sensitive to fingerprints (especially under the touch keys you always get dark spots) our previous Siemens extractor hood (also with black strip) had a kind of coating on the black/stainless steel front and unfortunately not...
Pros: Heavy quality, Finish, Suction, Design,
Cons: Not as quiet as expected after reading the specifications, LED lighting is too (cold) white,
Pieter

Replaced our old Siemens extractor hood after 17 years. Nice easy to operate and clean design. Even more effective/stronger than its predecessor. We are very satisfied with it.
