According to our mobile phone expert
The phone is waterproof, so making calls in the rain or spilling water on your phone isn't a problem.
Thanks to the optical image stabilization, you can take sharp photos, even when you're moving.
The fingerprint scanner is located next to device's rear camera, which takes some getting used to.
With the Samsung Galaxy S8, you can fully enjoy your photos and videos. The 5.8-inch Quad HD display is nearly bezel-less, making the device look like one big screen. The S8 has a 12-megapixel rear camera with Dual Pixel technology. Thanks to this technique, you can also take clear photos in low-light conditions. The Galaxy S8 also features an iris scanner. This allows you to unlock the phone just by looking at it.
This model is specially made for the Netherlands and supports additional Dutch software updates and NL Alert.
Let's start by saying that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a luxury product. There are plenty of phones out there for less where the key specs match the Galaxy S8. However, that does not take away from the fact that the Galaxy S8 is a fantastic phone.
The phone feels very nice in the hand and the finish on the glass makes the phone feel very luxurious.
The Galaxy S8 has a different screen ratio, which means that the screen is a lot longer compared to other phones compared to the width. This means that you have more screen space, but also that some apps, games and videos are not displayed properly because they are simply not made for this.
Samsung has built in an option for this to indicate per app whether it should use the full screen or keep the "standard" 16:9 ratio. So if an app doesn't function properly due to the new screen ratio, you can simply force the app to work in "standard" mode. You will then have a black bar below/above the app, but it does work properly. 90% of the apps and games in my case work great on this screen though.
Apps that are especially for video material such as Netflix and YouTube offer an option on this phone to show the videos in different formats so that you can decide for yourself whether you prefer to see the entire video, or whether you want to show it in full screen with a small loss of image at the top and bottom.
The fact that Samsung gives you the possibility in many areas that you can determine how you use the screen and also offers the possibility (as the first smartphone) to adjust the actual screen resolution is an extremely big plus.
The latter means that you can set the "quality" of the screen to 3 settings. HD Ready, Full HD or UHD. The higher the resolution, the better the quality of what is shown on the screen, but the more battery you consume. I always have it on Full HD and when I want to watch a high-quality film I set the resolution to UHD.
I can do 2 days on a battery and after the second day when I get home from work I still have about 5% battery left. So it's pushing something, but it's been a long time since I was able to go to the office for 2 days without charging my phone overnight.
Samsung's new assistant looks nice, but doesn't do much for me. I quickly put the special button to open Bixby to another action so that this button is not useless.
The phone is charged via a USB-C cable or wirelessly via the Qi protocol. USB-C is the future standard, so it's nice that Samsung is now using it. However, purchasing some of these cables (car, office, home) was a bit pricey compared to Micro-USB cables.
Furthermore, the phone is IP-68 water & dust proof, the highest rating currently available in phones and the phone comes with very nice earplugs.

The only downside I would like to mention is the location of the finger pressure scanner, I simply don't use it because it is too high for fine operability. A pattern or something. is sufficient. Very fast device with good camera and nice screen.
