I am a video professional who would like to use this DAS for active projects, then they move to the Synology NAS for longer storage. Unfortunately I don't get the promised speed. The drives connect to the LaCie Dock using SATA-600, which is 6Gbit/s (±750MB/s). But both USB 3.2 (5Gbit/s) and Thunderbolt 3 (40Gbit/s) I don't get speeds higher than 220MB/s Read and Write. That equates to about 1.7 Gbit/s. Much of my material is 4K 10Bit RAW. That has an average bitrate of 275MB/s, which the DAS just doesn't reach, so I often have stuttering images. I connect the drive directly to my iMac with the supplied TB3 cable and it is formatted in HFS+ in RAID0 (the full 8TB). I hope it's just this unit. I will be testing other drives in it soon. But so far I don't recommend this product if you expect the speeds advertised.
