According to our television expert
You can see the small details or the subtle color differences with the Philips 49PUS8303. This 4K UHD television has a refresh rate of 100Hz so it smoothly displays fast action, which is great if you like watching action movies, nature documentaries, or sports. Put on your favorite HDR footage and enjoy more than a billion colors. The Internet gives you access to convenient smart TV functions. The Android operating system has a simple menu, so you can quickly switch between live TV, websites, and apps such as YouTube or Netflix. Whatever you're watching, three-sided Ambilight gives your viewing experience an extra dimension. This technology lights up the wall behind the screen with the same colors as depicted on the screen.

A few weeks ago I ordered a Philips TV from the 6000 series via a daily specials site. After a few days I started to get a bit annoyed by a little less contrast and I couldn't get the colors really clear. In addition, the viewing angle was a bit disappointing. When my sister indicated that she wanted a new TV for not too much money, we decided to put it there.
I scoured the internet looking for a more premium model (Oled was just too big and a bit over budget, I read mixed reviews about Qled) and came across this one over and over again. A little deeper in the pouch compared to the previous TV, ordered Saturday evening and received on this Sunday. After arrival of the package, first visited the hardware store for the correct M6 screws (16mm long) for attachment to the wall bracket. No regrets so far, installation went smoothly, the picture is nicer, the colors are deeper, the sound is better and the functions are more extensive. In particular, the good contrast and the excellent black values appeal to me, certainly no regrets!

This Philips TV set has been in the house for a week, and certainly not a bad buy. To start with, a nice design that looks good in the living room. A single half-glass base that protrudes forward may not be equally useful in all situations, but it is nicely finished. Of course, even more important is the very good image quality.
The initial installation goes very smoothly. Clearly thought has gone into unpacking and installing this device. When you first turn on the TV, you will be presented with a clear wizard that will guide you through the necessary steps. In minutes you are "up and running". Especially when you use digital TV with a decoder, because then you don't have to install channels on the TV set itself.
When connecting external devices via HDMI, the TV automatically recognizes the type of device and this is also visible in the menus.
The default screen settings were not entirely to my taste (among other things, the colors were too saturated and generally too bright). This is of course personal taste, but when you dive into the settings you can adjust the smallest details. (and this all goes very smoothly by the way). In HD, the screen is already excellent, but you can really see the full potential when you watch 4K content (and certainly 4K HDR). At that point, it's a really impressive experience. The screen also looks good in dark scenes. Oled will undoubtedly score even better here, but the fact that those screens are not available in smaller sizes made that choice impossible for me. This device is certainly a very nice alternative.
The sound of this unit is good. Given the sleek design, it's certainly not bad, but it makes sense that a separate surround system would be a better choice here (which is the case for most TVs).
The Philips menus are also very clearly drawn up. You will find the necessary settings without any problems, without having to go through a manual. And if more information is needed, the manual is also available on the screen. It is advisable to browse through all the menus to get to know all the possibilities of the device, (because there are many :) )
As a fan of Ambilight, there is nothing to complain about here either. This device has Ambilight on 3 sides, and everything can be nicely configured (motion, intensity, brightness, ...) For those who also have Philips Hue lamps, this device also works perfectly with that to improve the experience.
Briefly about Android TV: certainly a nice platform in itself, but maybe just a bit too much for a TV set? This is not really necessary, especially if you have other devices such as an Apple TV or the like. As far as I'm concerned, a TV set is a TV set, and not a computer... But let it be clear: everything works very nicely :)
Also kudos to the high-quality remote control: it is not lightweight, but it also feels very solid. At the front you will find the "normal" buttons, at the back a full (small) keyboard that is connected to the device via bluetooth.
As far as I'm concerned, the choice for Philips was made quickly: always good quality at a fair price. And as the only brand with Ambilight, this is a decisive argument.
There is much more to tell, but in my opinion a very high quality device at a competitive price!
