Description

Enjoy smooth gameplay on the LG27GP850P-B 27-inch QHD gaming monitor. With a refresh rate of 165Hz and a response time of 1ms, you can play even the most demanding games smoothly and you can start gaming competitively. In addition, this monitor offers an extra step towards 180Hz. This makes the images appear on your screen even faster, which gives you an edge. Do you use an AMD or NVIDIA video card? The FreeSync 2 and G-Sync technologies synchronize the refresh rate of the video card with that of your monitor. This prevents screen tearing during gaming, even when you game in HDR. The HDR10 support ensures realistic and lifelike colors while you game. That means you can see the green blades of grass and blue sky even more brightly. Is it time for a long gaming session? Adjust the monitor in height for an ergonomic sitting posture and to prevent neck and back pain.

Note: to overclock the refresh rate, you need a video card with DisplayPort 1.4 support.

Top screen, with some random quality control

  • good colors
  • High resfresh rate
  • GSync
  • The quality can be disappointing (see review)

My first purchase was very disappointing, the screen had an orange "cloud" in the bottom right corner, the menu lever also felt a bit rickety. I sent that screen back and after some further research it turns out that this monitor can be a bit hit or miss in terms of quality. Finally decided to give it another try and ordered a new set. Both screens are excellent this time. Image is great, no weird effects. The menu stick is also a lot stiffer / firmer. Obviously had a Monday morning model the first time. 27” 1440 is a good upgrade over my previous 24” 1080p. The refresh rate is great (especially with GSync). Image is also a bit sharper and the colors are a huge upgrade (first had TN) in short, very satisfied with it! Another tip for new owners: if you notice that the brightness seems to fluctuate, the monitor has energy saving turned on by default. Turn it off and it won't bother you anymore.

Orange glow across screen

  • Thin bezel
  • Best 144+ hz for the price
  • High chance of screen glow

Ordered for the first time and as indicated here, there was also an orange glow in my screen. Returned and got a new one and the same problem again... Now I read somewhere that 30% of the screens have this problem. Now Coolblue can't do anything about it, but I think that Coolblue should point out to LG that this is not really customer-friendly... LG should check products better before they are scrapped.

Happy with it, but shame about the lightbleed.

  • Colors are good/accurate on most profiles
  • Easy to assemble
  • 2x HDMI 2.1, works perfectly with PS5
  • Colors out of the box a bit oversaturated

Ordered several monitors lately to find the perfect one. Unfortunately none of them are perfect, but at least this one scores well. - Setup is easy, you don't even need a screwdriver - Calibration is not necessarily necessary, on sRGB the colors are almost perfect (white is a bit cold). You can't change anything further, but you really don't need to. - If you do want to play with the settings, there are plenty of options. - 4k and high refresh is of course very nice. Downsides are the really intense lightbleed and the issues with 4k on high refresh via DisplayPort. The lightbleed is intense in the bottom corners and also quite distracting in dark scenes. Luckily you don't see it at all in other scenes. This goes a bit further than normal IPS glow/lightbleed and is a known problem with the LG Ultragears. The issues with 4k at 144hz on DisplayPort are not unique to this monitor. This is an issue in Windows and you have it on every 4k high refresh monitor. The problem is that the screen occasionally goes black for a second or two. Not very useful in game of course. To be solved by switching to an HDMI 2.1 connection and using the monitor at 120 Hz. So you won't have this issue with a PS5.
