Seagate IronWolf 4TB

Bought two Seagate IronWolf ST8000VN0022 8TB. One is installed in a Synology DS118, the other in a Windows 7 PC. They seem to do their job well. Not to mention the packaging. Only in ESD packaging, then in a minimal Coolblue bag and then in a large box without the slightest buffers... With a little shaking of the box by the conveyor, the discs are tumbling around !!! Coolblue, already ordered a lot from you, but this is one of the worst packaging ever for HDD transport!!!! Hopefully they won't break down soon due to any damage during transport...

I already had one of these identical, it has been running 24 hours a day for a year and not a single error on SMART. So very good. I also wanted to mention that I read a lot of negative reviews from people about how Coolblue packs hard drives. Under the motto: "if it's good, it can be said". This time the hard drive was packed extremely well. I bought this along with some other stuff. Now that the hard drive is still in place, it is packed separately, "box in a box" principle where it could not move. And the disk was suspended in such a box that absorbs the shocks from that elastic plastic. 10/10 package for a hard drive!

My Synology NAS was initially with two 4TB drives, and has never really worked smoothly. After 5 years, one drive gave up, but due to the SHR raid, all my data was still intact. New disks can therefore be replaced one by one plug-and-play. Coolblue recommended the Seagate IronWolf. I was pleasantly surprised at the higher speed the IronWolf drives achieve compared to the old drives. I found an 8 TB SSD just a bit too expensive to protect my archive. Because it took me 5 years to fill the 4TB, I thought I'd buy 8TB drives now and put a replacement on the agenda within 5 years. However, the IronWolf will last much longer than 5 years, so I'll have to remove the old junk from the disc ;-)
