According to our solid state drive (SSD) expert
With a maximum read speed of 5150MB/s, the WD Black SN770 is faster than previous generations, and your games start even faster.
Because this internal SSD is more energy-efficient than its predecessor, you can still use less power than normal, despite the higher speed.
You'll get a 5-year manufacturer's warranty on this internal SSD.
Due to the M key, this M.2 SSD doesn't fit in every motherboard.
Note: this M.2 SSD has a PCI Express 4.0 (NVMe) interface and only works if your system supports PCIe 4.0/NVMe. In addition, the SSD had an M key, which only fits in systems with an M slot. Make sure to check this in the manual of your laptop or motherboard.
The WD Black SN770 NVMe SSD 2TB is a very fast internal SSD, and ideal for a real desktop or laptop gamer. The SSD offers enough storage space for 40 games of 50GB, and it makes sure they start and load faster. That way, you can start your game right away. With the high 5150MB/s read and 4850MB/s write speed, the WD Black SN770 is a lot faster than the SN750 and similar SSDs. Despite these higher speeds, the SSD is a lot more energy-efficient at high speeds than its predecessor. This makes the SN770 more energy-efficient than the N750. The SN770 also performs very well, thanks to the PCIe 4.0 interface. This allows you to transfer files faster than with PCIe 3.0. For the best gaming experience, you can set up the gaming mode so the SSD performs at its best. In the WD Black Dashboard, you can keep track of the performance and lifespan of the SSD. You receive a 5-year warranty on this SSD from Western Digital.

A year ago I replaced the old-fashioned Fusion drive of my 2019 iMac with the 970 EVO Plus from Samsung, while I was already hesitating for WD. Samsung cheaper then etc...
I don't think things go well between Apple and Samsung, because Samsung has not been compatible with TRIM since Monterey. Many recommended WD disks for this.
Immediately recognized in recovery after installation. Installing macOS Ventura from a USB stick to this WD SN770 literally took only 12 minutes. The installation of the OS was already a lot slower with the Samsung at the time.
Booting time is now less than 15 seconds. Hopefully that will continue as soon as possible.
Read and Write speeds are around 3000 MB/s.
