Philips Sonicare Series 9000 HX9213/85 Bronze

This toothbrush gives me a lot of insight into my brushing habits while brushing. Via the light ring, the display, and the Sonicare app, I can see exactly which parts of my teeth need extra attention. Thanks to the many settings and accessories, this feels like a comprehensive model to me, although charging does take a relatively long time.

Extensive feedback The toothbrush looks beautiful and luxurious. While brushing, I receive handy feedback via the light ring at the bottom of the handle. With yellow and blue light, I can see which areas I have already brushed well enough and which areas I still need to give some extra attention to. After brushing, I check the display to see exactly which parts of my teeth I can brush even better. I can also adjust the feedback. When I set the light ring and the display to brushing pressure, I can see if I am brushing with the right pressure. I also connect the toothbrush to the Sonicare app. In it, I receive even more detailed information about my brushing session. For example, I can view a mouth map and receive tips to improve my brushing technique.

Many settings I can easily adjust the toothbrush via the display. For example, I change the brushing mode by swiping across the screen. This works well for me, and I don't have to keep pressing multiple buttons. I can choose from 7 different brushing modes. For instance, I select a mode for sensitive teeth, healthy gums, or a thorough cleaning. For each brushing mode, I can also choose from 3 intensity levels. This allows me to easily adjust the toothbrush to my teeth and always select a setting that feels comfortable.

Handy accessories The toothbrush comes with a charging glass and a rechargeable travel case. After brushing, I place the toothbrush in the glass. It sits neatly in my bathroom and charges immediately. However, the charging feels reasonably slow to me. Because I put the toothbrush back in the glass after every brushing session, it is always ready for the next use. When I go away for the weekend, I take the toothbrush with me in the travel case. I store it safely in there and charge it on the go. This means I don't have to take a separate charger with me.

First impression:

My first impression of the Philips Sonicare Series 9000 was immediately positive. Attention was clearly paid to the unboxing; everything is neatly packaged and feels well-presented. The toothbrush itself has a recognizable Philips look, but I find the green color very attractive. The whole thing feels solid and has a luxurious appearance.

User experience:

After about three weeks of daily use, I am very pleased with brushing. It feels different from a traditional electric toothbrush. Whereas my previous toothbrush mainly made a rotating motion, the Sonicare works differently. My teeth feel noticeably cleaner and smoother after brushing.

The noise level is also acceptable. Of course, it does make some noise, but certainly not an excessive amount. I find the ease of use to be excellent. Setting it up and operating it is essentially self-explanatory, and you don't need to read the manual extensively first. The display is clear and easy to read. So far, there has actually been nothing that has annoyed me. Features and feedback:

There are quite a few different modes and intensities, but so far I have mainly used the Deep Clean mode. The pressure sensor gave a notification a few times. Since I was actually already brushing well, there was little reason to adjust my brushing habits. The feedback becomes clear after a while, although you do have to get used to it at the beginning.

I like the feedback regarding which parts of the teeth have been brushed. You can already see a sort of mouth map on the display of the toothbrush itself. After a few times, you naturally know how to brush, but I still secretly take a quick look at it every time. The app provides even more information, although in practice I tend to ignore it a bit more.

Battery life and accessories:

The battery lasts well and is certainly significantly longer than that of my previous toothbrush. I haven't kept track of when I had to charge it or exactly how fast it charged.

I think the charging glass is a nice and luxurious addition. I also find the travel case that can charge the toothbrush handy. I haven't used charging via the case during a trip yet, so I can't share any experience regarding that. However, you should keep in mind that you need to carry the cable separately if you want to use the case while on the go.

Final verdict:

The number of features and the luxury accessories make this toothbrush somewhat more comprehensive than a standard electric toothbrush. Whether you need all those extra features is, of course, a personal matter. For me, it is primarily the cleaner feeling after brushing that makes the difference.

After three weeks, I certainly wouldn't want to go back to my previous toothbrush. My teeth feel cleaner and smoother, and I am very pleased with daily use. For me, the Philips Sonicare Series 9000 is therefore a clear step forward.

The Sonicare was delivered quickly and securely packed. Sonic brushing takes some getting used to, but it provides (in my opinion) a good brushing result. The wider head compared to other brands is an advantage as far as I'm concerned. The toothbrush has a nice matte finish and feels solid and high-quality. The charging glass is handy but does take up space. The travel case can also charge, which is convenient.

There are many setting options via the app, but not everything. Perhaps an update could still change things? The notification to switch sides comes just a bit too soon for me. All in all, reasonably satisfied, but for this price, you can of course expect a certain level of quality.
