Samsung Micro RGB 85" R85H (2026) + Samsung HW-QS90H (2026)

The Micro RGB R85H is a luxury TV with everything you need. The screen is very bright and colorful, allowing you to watch a movie or series in a brightly lit room without any problems. The design is also beautiful and sleek, although I don't find the feet to feel sturdy enough. Unfortunately, the TV does not have a Glare Free anti-reflective coating, meaning reflections are clearly visible from an angle.

Realistic Micro RGB screen Like the more luxurious R95H, the TV features a Micro RGB screen. The LED lights behind the image emit colored light instead of white light. As a result, the displayed colors are brighter and more realistic. At the same time, the LED lights are smaller than those of an (RGB) mini-LED television. The light is therefore distributed more efficiently across the screen, resulting in stronger contrast. I notice this in every scene I watch. Whether I am watching a nature documentary or a thrilling movie, the screen stands out because of how colorful and rich in contrast it is.

High brightness Out of the box, the TV's brightness was set to its highest level, which was far too bright for me. Once turned down, I realized that even at 40% brightness, this television is bright enough for any room. If the sun isn't shining directly on the screen and you are sitting directly in front of the television, you won't have any issues. Are you watching from an angle? Then the image quality clearly deteriorates. From a slight angle, the screen is immediately less bright, colors look less realistic, and I see reflections from lamps in our test room. You reduce this problem by turning up the brightness, but the reflections remain noticeable. I therefore recommend this TV mainly if you like sitting directly in front of the TV.

Luxury design The feet are simple and don't feel very sturdy, but otherwise, the R85H has a luxury design. For example, this television features 4 neatly concealed HDMI 2.1 connections, and the back has a sleek appearance. You connect all your peripherals, such as a game console and soundbar, via these connections. The television is also slightly heavier than you might expect. This makes the TV feel solid, which I appreciate. For example, I wouldn't have to worry about this television during a move.

The Samsung MRE55R85H / Ultra HD 4K Micro RGB TV / 55 / 2026 was delivered quickly and neatly.

It was also connected, but in hindsight, we could easily have done that ourselves.

Then the real discovery began; we did download the entire manual (338 pages). There are so many possibilities.

We have already set up and found quite a lot, but every time we come across something new.

The colors are amazing thanks to the Micro RGB; the image runs smoothly.

We did connect our soundbar for the sound.

Switching between the different remote controls is lightning fast.

Watching streaming services is also quick thanks to the smart platform.

55 inches is a great screen for us.

We do want to mount it on the wall (just like our previous TV).

A minor downside (personally): the screen is matte, and I am used to a glossy screen.

I must say that the Samsung television has not disappointed me. A bright, sharp picture where colors pop. They are beautifully calibrated without feeling artificial. It is also incredibly nice that the settings are minimalist. You can adjust all sorts of TV settings, but you never feel lost.

The design from the front is beautiful, without a visible light (which in my opinion looks best when the TV is off), but with thin bezels. In my opinion, however, this thin character does not carry through to the back. I think the television looks a bit bulky from that side. The casing extends quite far back. Thanks to the thicker back, the sound is spacious and clearly audible!

I consider the Samsung ecosystem to be both an advantage and a disadvantage of this Samsung TV. The connection between phone and television is well-developed. You can easily cast the phone screen to the television, and many Samsung apps translate well from phone to TV. The disadvantage, however, is that you do not have a smart TV without a Samsung account. You have to create or have a Samsung account to launch apps like Netflix and Videoland. I would have preferred to have the choice to view these apps without being required to have an account with the TV brand.
