Waterproofness
Shokz OpenSwim: waterproof
The Shokz OpenSwim Pro has an IP68 rating. This means the earbuds are dustproof and waterproof. They're waterproof up to 2m deep. This allows you to swim with these earbuds without worries.
OpenRun Pro, OpenFit, and OpenMove: splash proof
The Shokz OpenFit has an IP54 rating and the OpenFit and OpenMove an IP55 rating. This means the earbuds are splash proof. This makes them resistant to sweat and rain.
Type of ear cushions
Shokz OpenFit: Open-ear
The Shokz OpenFit earbuds have an open-ear design. With this type of earbud, the contact point with the speakers rests in your ear. You keep the earbuds in place in your ear with an ear hook. This keeps your ear canal free, so you can hear your surroundings clearly.
OpenRun Pro, OpenSwim, and OpenMove: bone conduction
The other Shokz models have bone conduction. The contact point of these earbuds rests on your cheekbones. Via vibrations from this contact point, the sound goes straight to the cochlea. This means it skips the ear canal. Bone conduction earbuds have ear hooks and a neckband. As a result, the earbuds don't fall out while you exercise. With bone conduction earbuds, you also hear your surroundings clearly.
Generation bone conduction
Shokz OpenMove: 7th generation
Audio sounds balanced, but misses depth with more intense music genres like EDM and rock. With these genres, the earbuds lack intensity in the bass.
Shokz OpenSwim Pro: 8th generation
With the 8th generation bone conduction, you feel less vibrations and the sound leaks less than with the 7th generation. This way, you enjoy a higher sound quality than with the Shokz OpenMove.
Shokz OpenRun Pro: 9th generation
The 9th generation bone conduction has a deeper bass reproduction than the 8th generation. With this generation earbuds, the contact points also rest more firmly on your cheekbones.
