Expert review of the Huawei Freebuds 3
The Freebuds are Huawei's take on fully wireless earbuds. The manufacturer is releasing the third model in the series, the Freebuds 3. Like the previous versions, this model is very similar to the Apple AirPods. In this review, you can read if these earbuds are just as good as those from Apple.
First impression of the Huawei Freebuds 3
My first impression of the Huawei Freebuds 3 is that they're not very special. The earbuds arrive in a Huawei box and include all the accessories by default. When I take the earbuds out of the box, the charging case looks great. They're small, so I can easily put them in my pocket. The earbuds look identical to the Apple AirPods.
Standard wearing comfort
The Huawei Freebuds 3 are earbuds that don't go directly into your ears, but hang in the round part of the external ear. Personally, I'm not a big fan of this type of earbuds, but I'm satisfied with the wearing comfort of the Freebuds 3. After 1 or 2 hours of listening, my ears become irritated. After a 5-minute break without the earbuds, I can listen for another while.
Earbuds with noise canceling?
When I heard that these earbuds have noise canceling, I was skeptical at first. Earbuds aren't intended to close you off from the environment. Ambient noise should still be audible, which is particularly useful in traffic. In my opinion, providing these earbuds with noise canceling is a strange choice. It doesn't work well and the ambient noise is only partially muted. If you want to hear significantly less of your environment, the Freebuds 3 aren't the noise-canceling earbuds for you.
Standard sound quality
I'm surprised by the sound quality of the Earbuds 3. The sound is clear and it has quite a deep bass. As such, the sound is comparable to that of the AirPods of the first and second generation. But the sound also has a downside. For example, the maximum volume isn't very loud, so I have to turn off the volume limit of my phone to get immersed in the music.
