How do you replace the carbon filter of a range hood?

Every recirculation range hood uses carbon filters. With these filters, the range hood cleans the air in your kitchen and then blows it back. To ensure that your range hood works properly, it's important to regularly replace the filters. When and how exactly you do this depends on the type of filter and the use of your range hood.

Carbon filter lifespan

How long a carbon filter lasts depends on the type of filter and the use of your range hood. You have to replace most carbon filters every 3 to 12 months. You know the filter needs replacing when odors remain in your kitchen after cooking. Some range hoods are equipped with an electronic cleaning indicator. This means that a light will indicate that your filters should be replaced.

Not every carbon filter is suitable for your range hood. This often differs per brand, model, and type. Consult the manual to see which carbon filters you need according to the supplier. On the product page of both the range hood and the filter itself, we indicate which combinations are possible. There are also universal carbon filters that you can cut to size yourself. Keep the width of your range hood in mind, so you can be sure that the filters are suitable.
