A French door fridge has a wide fridge compartment at the top and a freezer compartment at the bottom. Because the compartments are divided horizontally, an American fridge with French doors does not have a partition. This gives you plenty of space so you can easily store a family-sized bowl of pasta salad or a sheet pan pizza. There are different models, so you can choose 3 or 4 doors. Why this door is called a French door, you ask? Do you know those cute shutters on the windows of French houses? Those doors work the same, the 2 doors keep the cold in and the heat out.
