Philips Lumea IPL 9900 Series BRI953/02

I was allowed to test the Philips Lumea IPL. I have light skin and black hair, which is rare but it is ideal for this device. The manual is basically clear and you can get started right away.

I had not prepared myself well for the effect of the light flashes, I can't find anything about this in the manual. The flashes are really intense, I have to close my eyes with my shirt over my head, or look the other way with my eyes closed, then it is doable. Perhaps certain glasses are needed for this? I will do some research on this.

The Lumea, especially in combination with the app, clearly indicates which setting it should be on. It scans your skin and gives recommendations. It indicated setting 5 for me, but I still find this a bit too intense. I am fine on setting 4. I was curious whether a lower setting would still have sufficient effect.

I tested my legs: left leg not done, right leg done a few laps. This way I could see the difference well. After one treatment you can already see a difference, clearly less hair grows back. After two weeks I did the second treatment, then waited for the hair to grow. The hairs on my left leg are now a few millimeters long, while they just stay away on my right leg.

The treatment takes quite a lot of time and it takes some practice. However, when I see this result now, I think it is worth it. I still have to find a good way for this and it does require some dedication.

I have been using the Philips Lumea for 3.5 weeks now. The Philips Lumea comes in a box with 3 extra attachments. Before I started, I installed the app. They advise you to first try the device on a piece of your skin. Then wait 24 hours and see if there is a reaction. After 24 hours of no reaction, I started with my legs. Depilating your legs takes a lot of time. You need a lot of flashes and I find it difficult to see if you have done everything. I have just done my first repetition (which you do after 2 weeks). I cannot say yet whether it works. The hair on my legs is still growing back. The first 4x you flash every 2 weeks, after that it could be every 4 weeks. The flashing itself does not hurt. You can set the Lumea to 5 settings. You can use the device with and without a plug. I would recommend using it with a plug; this is faster. It also runs out of power quickly otherwise.

I have used the Philips Lumea a few times now and I am very pleased with it! I had an older model, but it no longer worked very well. That is why I bought this model and started using it. After a few times I noticed that the hairs were getting thinner or even stopped growing back.

The purchase comes with a handy bag, so you can easily take it with you on the road. I will definitely use this when we go on a world trip. This means I don't have to shave as often and I can keep it neat.

The IPL device comes with 4 different heads. I must honestly admit that I am a lazy flasher and that I only use 1 head. I dare not say whether it is necessary to use a different head for a different body part.

What seemed very nice to me in advance was that you can also use it wirelessly. However, I have so much hair that the battery is empty after 1 leg. I think I will mainly use it wirelessly for armpits, but that the large parts will have to be powered. I have quite dark hair and a bit of a lighter skin, so it seems to be perfect for my body type.
