With the AEG LR86POWER PowerCare UniversalDose, I washed a large load of laundry very energy-efficiently. Thanks to the PowerClean 59 program, I washed a half-full drum in under an hour. With the steam program, I experienced fewer wrinkles. However, the detergent drawer felt a bit stiffer.
First Impression
The first thing you notice about the washing machine is the black door. It stands out against the white of the washing machine. The same goes for the black display. This gives the washing machine a modern look. I easily choose between the different programs with the dial, and the lights let me see which one I'm selecting immediately. I download the three programs on the right via the app. However, the detergent drawer is a bit stiffer to open and close.
Clean Laundry in a Flash
With a small child, I regularly have a lot of dirty, stained clothes. The PowerCare system mixes the water and detergent and then sprays the suds into the drum. This distributes the detergent evenly over my clothes. This allows the laundry to penetrate the clothes better, and the jam stains disappear from my sweater and pants after washing. I also no longer have to deal with greasy detergent stains on my clothes. With the PowerClean 59-minute program, I washed a half-full load in one hour. Handy when I have a load of dirty clothes after playing outside. I can also easily shorten the normal programs using the "time-saving" touch button. For example, the time for a full load of cotton changes from 2 hours and 12 minutes to 58 minutes. The washing machine is a bit less energy-efficient, but I still washed a full 8-kilogram load in an hour.
Energy-efficient large loads
With a 10-kilogram capacity, I have plenty of room for all my laundry. I can fill the drum with the entire week's worth of towels or wash an extra-large load of bed linen. This means fewer washes per week, saving water and energy. I save even more energy thanks to the A-50% energy rating. This made me 50% more economical than with an A energy label.
Steam function
I like to iron as little as possible. That's why I'm very curious about the Plus Steam steam function. Touching the touch button does add half an hour of steaming time, but I'm more than happy with the longer program time. As soon as the wash cycle is complete, the steaming process starts automatically. Now that steam is released into the drum, the washing machine also spins at a relatively low revolutions per minute. When I take my shirts out of the machine, I see very few wrinkles. This means I can wear my shirt or dress shirt as soon as it's dry, without having to iron it.
