The Apple MacBook Pro is Apple's most powerful MacBook model. On the 14-inch Liquid Retina screen, I enjoy all my content in the highest quality. However, I find it more difficult to work in multiple apps simultaneously due to the smaller screen size.
Sturdy design with plenty of ports
Like the other MacBook models, the MacBook Pro also features a sturdy aluminum casing. This makes the MacBook Pro feel solid, with a high-quality finish and a professional appearance. However, thanks to the black color of the casing, I quickly see fingerprints and dirt, which I find looks less neat. On the sides of the MacBook, I find a MagSafe connector, SDXC port, HDMI connector, headphone jack, and 3 Thunderbolt 5 ports. With these, I can connect all my accessories and extra screens without any problems, and I never run out of ports.
Processors for the heaviest tasks
With the MacBook Pro, you can choose from 3 different processors: M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max. Which processor suits you best depends on your usage situation. I am testing a model with the M5 chip. With this, I can easily open heavy apps and files without any lag. For instance, I download Hades II, a game where I know a lot is happening simultaneously. Yet, the M5 processor handles this with ease. Everything loads quickly, and I play without major hiccups. Apps like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom also run smoothly and without issues. Consequently, I easily edit high-quality photo files.
Razor-sharp screen and impressive sound
Once I have thoroughly tested the processor, I naturally want to relax for a moment. I enjoy a movie (The Batman from 2022) in the highest quality on the beautiful 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR screen. Even the smallest details are razor-sharp, and I enjoy true-to-life colors thanks to HDR support. I also place the 14-inch MacBook comfortably on my lap so that I can watch my movie comfortably on the couch. However, the screen is somewhat smaller than that of the 16-inch model. As a result, I see less of my movies and apps, and I find it more difficult to open windows side-by-side. I then connect an external monitor for extra screen space. Thanks to the 6 speakers, I also fully enjoy the sound of the movie. This way, explosions and action scenes sound spacious, and the bombastic soundtrack comes fully into its own.
