According to our monitor expert
With the LG 34UC79G, you'll never suffer from laggy gameplay again. This monitor has a refresh rate of 144Hz, allowing you to make full use of your video card and play games Destiny 2, Overwatch and Battlefield 1 up to 144fps. Other than that, the FreeSync technology allows the monitor and video card to 'cooperate' better, so you won't have any issues with image stutter anymore. In other words: your enemies won't stand a chance when you get them in sight. Plus, this monitor is also ultrawide, so you'll see more of the playing field in games that support the 21:9 aspect ratio. To finish it all off, this screen is curved. This creates a panoramic effect, which makes your game experience even better.

Great monitor for gaming. However, when working with documents or simply text, due to the resolution it you can see the pixels.

With me sitting in front of my computer for several hours, I had a triple monitor setup. Due to circumstances this had to go and I therefore had less work space. This really bothered me, so an ultrawide came in handy. LG is one of the better brands for ultrawides, so here it is.
I'm coming from a 22" 1920*1080 60Hz Acer display and I've switched to a 34" 2560 x 1080 144Hz ultrawide from LG. The first thing I noticed when I opened it up: this thing is huge.
After the installation, which was very easy and connected with the DisplayPort cable that came standard in the box, I went to test it. At first, the resolution seemed awfully bad. If I had to buy a new one it would definitely be a 4k version. I also recommend for the people who want to buy this for the 4k version.
Other than that, this is a great monitor, does everything it's supposed to do and works perfectly. No dead pixels and backlight bleed is not that bad. Watching this screen for 16+ hours is no problem and the 144Hz is great for playing games like CS:GO and Forza Horizon 3.
The only downsides for me are that it gets very hot at the bottom bezel. So hot that you can't touch it for more than 5 seconds. The resolution is also a bit less and I would have preferred a 4K model. The DisplayPort cable is certainly of good quality and does everything it's supposed to do, but is very short. I just arrived with a gaming PC that is just next to the screen. TIP: Buy a longer DisplayPort cable if you were to purchase this one.

Now my 2nd ultrawide from LG and I really like it! The monitor is quick to set up, and works perfectly right out of the box. Only need to adjust the refresh rate in windows. Joystick at the bottom for menus works a lot better than what many monitors do with multiple buttons. Gaming is perfect. Thanks to the IPS display, the colors are beautiful, and the 144hz with freesync is really great for competitive gaming. For games, the relatively low resolution is nice, since it is difficult to run 3440x1440 in 144hz with most games. The monitor is also ideal for films, as they are often shot in 21:9. This means you can use the full 34 inches. In normal use it is occasionally visible that the resolution is a bit low, but personally I don't mind this. In my opinion the best option for an IPS display with 144hz.
