We bought this laptop for our daughter for school. She needed a new laptop and she immediately knew she wanted a Surface Laptop Go. Before purchasing, however, we first looked at some other models, but after trying it in the store, she still wanted this one.
What is immediately a plus is the construction of the laptop. Nice and light and small, so ideal for a school bag. In addition, the battery life of the device is also so long that now, but also in 3 years if the battery is a bit worse, it will probably still be enough to get through a whole day. She also thinks being able to log in via fingerprint is fantastic and she doesn't want to do without it anymore. In any case, she thinks the whole keyboard is fantastic and a pleasure to tap on and the trackpad is also very good. I myself have a Macbook Pro and I don't think it is as good as the current Macbook keyboards and trackpads, but of all Windows laptops these are among the best I've seen and come closest to the Macbook trackpads and keyboards.
The laptop comes with Windows 10 S, but that was very easy to convert to Windows 10 Home (and later to a purchased Pro version). The laptop can also handle this well and as long as it does not run too intense programs, the laptop will handle it well. It is not a performance monster, but for her schoolwork it always does well. Gaming and video and photo editing is a no-go on this laptop, but running Microsoft Office and a little surfing and emailing is no problem at all! And because this is a laptop from Microsoft itself, I am confident that Windows will continue to run on it for years to come. Something I've seen differently at HP, for example, after an update.
It is noticeable, however, that he turns on the fan fairly quickly, which causes some fan noise. And if the fan really has to do its job (which fortunately is not often, especially with updates) then that noise can be very annoying. That is also the only downside to this laptop, the fan sound.
The Specifications are also good enough at the time of writing so that she can be assured that she can continue to use them for the next 3 to 4 years. Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5 are both present in the laptop and these are techniques that are only now beginning to be used in schools.
Another tip for all potential buyers, the laptop with a 128GB and 256GB HD uses a real SSD HD, the 64GB is an eMMC type, this 64GB is noticeably slower. The SSD 128GB or 256GB is noticeably faster and definitely recommended!
All in all a very nice laptop that both my daughter and myself are very happy with. I would recommend it to any parent who wants to buy a good laptop for his or her child in secondary education. It's a pity that CoolBlue has few custom covers or covers for the Microsoft Laptop Surface go, so we had to buy them elsewhere.
So CoolBlue, you have to do something about that. ;-)
